All this Derek stuff is just terrible.

EE doesn't have a great history of dealing with the really controversial issues. They have a tendency to make it all a bit tawdry or give it hammy ridiculous ending. So I hope this wasn't anything more than a beating.

Methe · 03/02/2012 08:13

Ee is pretty much unwatchable at the moment isn't it.

Derek is the most laughable gangster character ever, not scary at all just unbelievable.

Fatboy?? What is the point?

Why keep bringing people back it's boring!!

Are they killing off Hev? That's a shame, she's one of the few likeable people left in it now Jane's gone :(

mrsjay · 03/02/2012 09:22

maybe he did rape him and thats why michael is so scared of him and thats is why michael is the way he is ? there was heavy breathing and michael looked devastated iyswim .

hattymattie · 03/02/2012 09:27

A rape would explain how he paid the debt for his brothers. It seemed a bit weird - I'll thump you and the debt's cleared!

seasalt · 03/02/2012 09:36

Yes all that heavy breathing was gross. I don't know why they don't all just gang up on him, it's not as though he has anyone to back him up. It's just completely ridiculous the way it's all about him now.

iseenodust · 03/02/2012 09:41

I turned over last night. Abysmal.

nomorecake · 03/02/2012 10:03

hmmm...It might explain why Michael has been so desperate to get Derek put back in prison, first he got David on side to 'get' him, and then when derek found him in the flat he suddenly switched allegiances.
Then the other day he 'grassed on him'.
and that scene yesterday was quite odd. especially as he was crying when he got there.

i agree about heather. shame they are killing her off.

disagree about Fatboy. like the character, but they need to give him some proper story lines. his unlucky in love story lines are just pointless and seemingly endless.

i was saying to DH they need a Sharon type character in it - and then i read somewhere she may be going back in.

EE seriously lacking in storylines at the moment though. its all about the gansters and the mitchells. yawn.
And Ben looking moody, double yawn.

RedBlanket · 03/02/2012 10:05

I didn't get that from Michael and Derek bit. Although makes more sense about why Michael would protect his brothers when they've been so horrible to him. If the three of them got together though they'd easily duff up the old codger derek

As for Ricky leaving, what a joke! As if he would just pack up and go.
And Mandy, we all know where this story is going, just know it on the head now

Sidenote, Janine's money. How come Roxy who inherited millions and property managed to spend it all within 5 minutes but Janine, who didn't inherit as much, has pots of cash to buy loads of houses. I know she's supposed to be a bit flaky but even so.

VonHerrBurton · 03/02/2012 10:40

Yeah Red, you're right, what the hell happened to all Roxy's millions? Let me think. There was errr....there was nothing was there? No property, no car, no investment, they already had R & R.

She lives in that shitty little flat and looks like a scruffbag. Everytime there's any need for anyone to get hold of cash, Janine stumps it up. All sorts of property, Pat's million quid funeral, 8K for the Moon Jnr debt. Hmm.

disclaimer I know it's not real but I used to love it!!

gregssausageroll · 03/02/2012 13:38

Roxy spent her cash though didn't she? Janinie is being a bit more careful. I think they inherited around the same amount didn't they? £3 million?

The rape of Michael could be right.

I read and I don't know where that Kat ends up with HIV from the bloke she slept with as a one night stand.

ballstoit · 03/02/2012 13:50

Sat and watched it last night and thought how sad that it's become all about violence and crime.

The only empathetic characters have either turned weird or are leaving. I'm finding it pretty boring, and have decided I'll give it a couple more weeks and if Derek is still waddling around in every episode, I'll knock it on the head and find something better to do with 2 hours a week.

Animation · 03/02/2012 15:56

It IS a bit boring! I tuned in around the time Pat died and have been persevering since. About ready to give up now.

chipstick10 · 03/02/2012 15:57

Oooohh im glad there is a thread to have a good ol moan about how crap EE is. Im glad Ricky went Sid Owen is the most appaulling actor. He constantly sighs and looks like hes about to have a constipated shit. Derek is beyond a constipated crap. Hes too camp to be frighteneing. Ron and Reg would be spinning in their graves at his portrayel of an eastend gangster. Kat and Alfie make me puke. I think the producers seem to think we all love sad, cuckolded Alfie. Well we dont, hes an irritating pain in the arse. And how many times and how many ways can Kat do him down!!!!! boring. Tanya is irritating the hell out of me. Shes always having panic attacks and panting like shes in labour everytime the script calls for her to cry. I hate max, i still just see him as the spotty herbert sitting at the computer in Only Fools And Horses. Roxy cant deliver a line without shouting, and as someone else commented "grow up love". As for Hever and her stupid hairbands and silly victim face, the sooner shes bumped off the better. Shirley love go and wash your hair, you might look a bit better and Phil, just deliver a line without the heavy breathing...........aaahhh thats better. Deep breath and relax.

RedBlanket · 03/02/2012 17:14

Didn't realise Janine had inherited so much money, and id forgotten Roxy did pay for bionic man treatment for Jack.

Chipstick - Grin. Do you like anything about it?

mrsjay · 03/02/2012 17:23

I think roxy gave some money to her brother well half brother her mum was getting the brother to worm his way in , was he even her real brother i cant remember now , he was horrible though , Im not sure about the rape thing it was just something i read didnt even enter my head , but it sort of makes sense ,

RedBlanket · 03/02/2012 17:25

Oh I'd blanked out the completely dreadful brother storyline, he was taking money out of her account. I do wonder why I watch it sometimes.

mrsjay · 03/02/2012 17:38

reading all the moans and groans i have to agree with redblanket why the hell do we watch Grin

Sevenfold · 03/02/2012 17:48

oh so that is that odd scene explained, I couldn't get why Derek was s o out of breathe and Michael crying.
but how did Derek mange to hurt the moon brother, wasn't he training as a boxer?

mrsjay · 03/02/2012 17:51

i think the moon brother was taking his punishment from derek ?

OddBoots · 03/02/2012 17:54

It's been depressing dross for years but I do think it's crossed the line now and either needs to lighten up or be moved to post watershed. I can't imagine any responsible parent actually wants their child to see this kind of nastiness.

Mumof1plustwins · 04/02/2012 06:28

I agree oddboots I watch it on iplayer now when DD is at school. Not appropriate for her at all atm.

Totally agree on the moon brothers thing - one was supposed to be training to be a boxer and the two of them can't rough up Derek? Unlikely..pretty pathetic, maybe they should ask Bianca to do him over Wink or failing that...Dot! Grin

gregssausageroll · 04/02/2012 07:52

Looking back on last night, I don't think there's was anything lighthearted or funny in the episode at all.

OP posts:
Animation · 04/02/2012 09:15

Never seems to do humour to me. :/

That's why I prefer Cora.
