Like on the Ullaroo! thread - what are your favourite memories of Home and Away?

For me nothing will beat Meg dying on the beach in Blake's arms, and Flynn's death Sad

I met Kip Gamblin and he was lovely :)

I suppose he's not bad if you look at him anew but remembering how hot he was back then mm mm mmmmmmm!

Am remembering some Alf-isms... flamin galarr, stone the flamin crows, which part of no don't you understand, the N or the O? Classic! Grin

What about Ruth? I thought she was so stylo.
I've had a drink with alf, the flaming galah.

LeBOF · 19/01/2012 21:19

Really? Was he very lovely?

I must use that No phrase, I love it Grin

thestringcheesemassacre · 19/01/2012 21:21

Yes he was. He used to drink in the same pub every week.

EightiesChick · 19/01/2012 21:21

Ah, the memories... mostly the Roo-Frank-Bobby-Frank-Roo triangle. I also wanted to be Bobby. She didn't take any shit. And I liked Alan with the aneurysm too. He had very spiky 80s-style hair IIRC.

I liked 'rack off' as a teatime-friendly expletive! Plus 'drongo' as well as 'flaming galah' as a term of abuse.

Mi4 · 19/01/2012 21:21

ohhh I am jealous!

And it's Roo no? I loved her too, she was very cool not like the dowdy Carly and Lynn

if you feel like another cry

I forgot about Roo and Frank, they almost got married, he probably saw the awful get up she was in and ran a mile Grin

Who rememebers Brodie, she was very erm... unique looking!

mmm, Frank...
And the wonderful transition of Pippa from about 25, straight blonde hair and a perky wee thing in dungarees, to around 40, frizzy reddish-brown hair and very mumsy, one day with no explanation or comment!
Original Evil Morag and Evil Stacy who wanted to build over the caravan park.

Having a bunch of fostered kids was such a great idea to explain cast members having interesting back stories and moving on in a plausible manner - until it all went to pot after Karen and wotsit moved in with Alf and Ailsa.

Mi4 · 19/01/2012 21:46

Much preferred the second Pippa, she seemed warmer. The blonde frizzy one had weirdy bug eyes and didn't look all homely like Pippa Fletcher should :)

OP posts:
LeBOF · 19/01/2012 21:51

The second Pippa didn't half have a big ol' arse though. It needed its own agent.

Mi4 · 19/01/2012 22:03

I've just been reading that Sally's imaginary friend Milko, wasn't actually imaginary but her long lost twin brother Shock

Pippa actress now. Definitely improved with age. Grin

I've felt strangely nostalgic and emotional about old episodes of Neighbours and Home and Away for a while now ? think it must be because it was a running theme through my childhood. I didn't watch it for years when I worked but firmly back into them both since being made redundant. I freelanced for a while and am still a bit Sad that I missed Sally leaving (saw the run up to it) so thanks for the link. I won't make that mistake again and record it every day.

AmberLeaf · 19/01/2012 22:21

Was it Carly that ended up having a long lost twin sister who was a model?

Sevenfold · 19/01/2012 22:22

they have a thing about twins, there were the twins that looked nothing alike(not even like sisters) you know one came back and got with Miles.
then it turned out they wern't twins due to a mix up at the hospital

Leah was in The Matrix, Ben Lucini went on to Nip/Tuck and X Men, think Hugh Jackman was in it at one point, Heath Ledger definitely was.

Angel was in Friends as the nanny

Shane on the other hand turned up in Neighbours last year and hasn't aged well.

EightiesChick · 19/01/2012 22:32

SebastianThe Crab thanks for the link? The second Pippa actress has really grown into a much better look now. Plus I never knew she and the actor playing Michael became a couple IRL and are still married! That's romance for you.

Mi4 · 19/01/2012 22:37

Oh did they? That's lovely :)

I also had a thing for Dieter Brummer, another who hasn't aged well, he was in Underbelly too. He died spreadeagled on a rock apparently Confused
