I am loving it. So beautifully done (loved the woman who had the baby at 30 weeks last week - ' I am his hospital').
Shows how birth really could/should be - majority having homebirths in the community surrounded by caring, supportive midwives and with the ones that really need the help having access to the best doctors.

If only....

My dad was born by c-section in 1958 when his heart rate started to drop during labour. He was born in the local cottage hospital after my nan was transferred from home. It's only from watching this I realise how lucky they both were!

cantgetlaidingermany · 31/01/2012 11:40

So with you about Birdsong Mrsd.....utter drivel, all those intense looks drove me insane

TaylorSwift13Fan · 01/02/2012 02:11

I'm a midwife so watching Call The Midwife is a must for me! i never miss a episode! Aww dear Chummy :) she finally got used to the bicycle...well a little bit :D I'm part Irish and my hubby is part Scottish (i'm also part Cornish!)

Housewife2010 · 01/02/2012 10:56

Does anyone remember Elize du Toit who used to play the posh Izzy in Hollyoaks years ago? The blonde glam midwife looks & sounds just like her - isn't though.

mothmagnet · 02/02/2012 11:52

Housewife, I've also been trying to remember where I'd seen her before, I'll have to look it up now.

I begrudgingly watched this last night through boredom and it's brilliant, I love all of them. Usually, I hate period dramas where historical facts are inserted, but it's really interesting.

I woke up this morning trying to imagine the young lad's face when he saw the bike Chummy had bought him.

HJisthinkingofanewname · 05/02/2012 17:03

How many episodes are there?

lilmamma · 05/02/2012 18:38

I love this and think chummy plays a brilliant part :)

LetsKateWin · 05/02/2012 19:13

I have tio catch up during the week as DP won't let me watch it. He gives me DOI so I can't complain.

I'm looking forward to the next episode.

TartyMcFarty · 05/02/2012 20:17

Is this the violinist? Now I feel terrible for splitting hairs!

OhDoAdmitMrsDeVere · 05/02/2012 20:21

This must be the sad episode.
I feel it in my waters, something is up with the baby girl of the other couple.
Perhaps Down Syndrome?

I dont know but I just think they are hinting at something.

I read all the books, cant remember a blumming thing!

wonderstuff · 05/02/2012 20:22

Why is she dying?

HJisthinkingofanewname · 05/02/2012 20:22
