I love shameless too - got really into it last series

LittleMissSmall · 03/01/2006 16:37

Looking forward to it but do you think it will be as good without Not sure how it's going to play out but will be watching.

spacedonkey · 03/01/2006 16:37

I read that Jill Halfpenny's in this series

I watched both the first episode on C4 and the second on E4 last night. Took me about half an hour to get over Fiona's absence, and ended up enjoying it as much as ever (esp the second episode!)

Oh, I really can't stand this programme. Hate the main character, hate the fact that it's set in Manchester (it is, isn't it?) and that they're called the Gallaghers and hate the guy who wrote it taking himself and his "art" so seriously.

spacedonkey · 04/01/2006 11:02

thanks for sharing that tinker

well, I suppose it would be boring if we all liked the same things. I think paul abbott is a fantastic writer, and I love Shameless (which is apparently closely based on his own childhood).

I watched last night but didn't find it very amusing though. I found it a bit harrowing actually, looking forward to next week. I am missing Fiona.

Carmenere · 04/01/2006 11:06

I loved the last series, wasn't so amused at last nights first episode but will definitely keep on watching.
Tinker, I take it you are of Irish heritage and live in Manchester?

spacedonkey · 04/01/2006 11:07

I must admit, the first episode wasn't the best I've ever seen, but the second was brilliant

dh borrowed the first series from a friend and we spent a good deal of xmas hols watching it

Didnt realise it was on again but will watch it avidly now.

Where has Fiona gone?

spacedonkey · 04/01/2006 11:11

She went off with Steve at the end of series 2

Fiona was so much at the heart of the programme, I'm not sure if it'll lose momentum now she's gone. On the other hand, Debbie is stepping up to a more central role, and the other women will probably play a bigger part in this series too.

DH and I really enjoyed the first series but it really took a nose dive in the second series. They just seemed to be recycling the 'benefits scum' cliches and it really disappointed us. I also cannot stand breathless Sheila - ARGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH! I won't be watching series 3.

MascaraOHara · 04/01/2006 11:14

I think Debbie is becoming the next 'Fiona' never liked the other girl - the one Veronica hates.

Is Jill Halfpanny in it then? I didn't see her last night.

I hope we see more of Marty again, not sure where his character will go now he has a women

Tinker · 04/01/2006 11:15

Correct Carmenere although hadn't thought of it as logically as that

cranberryjampots · 04/01/2006 11:15

The last one I saw Steve had bought the house between Veronica and the Gallaghers - is there a whole series Ive missed?

spacedonkey · 04/01/2006 11:15

there's a hilarious storyline involving marty in episode 2. He is a brilliant actor isn't he?

OP posts:
spacedonkey · 04/01/2006 11:16

yes, the new series is series 3. Do get series 2 on DVD - it is absolutely brilliant!

MascaraOHara · 04/01/2006 11:17

I really like Marty, I noticed they'd toned him down a lot in last nights episode. Was also a little disappointed that Liam was so much older.

jenk1 · 05/01/2006 12:27

is it repeated? i missed it

spacedonkey · 05/01/2006 12:31

jenk, I don't know when but it's bound to be repeated on E4
