I know there is a Merlin thread somewhere - Morgana irritated me in the last series but now she's outed as evil Morgana they've made her look deathly pale and her acting seems better. At some point Arthur has to know Merlin has magic.

Does anyone know if they are making another series after this one?

I enjoy Merlin but the plot holes are getting to me badly. I told the kids last night that no way would they have killed that Caronealean (sp?) guy last night, they would have held him for a horrible ransom in a rat-infested dungeon instead. And as for how easily the Queen forgave Arthur... If I were Merlin I'd give up on Camelot, truly I would. Move away somewhere else!! Go play with his baby dragon. Speaking of which, what happened to it? Did it fly away?

I suppose they've tried to show Arthur as moving even further away from what Merlin wants, before he'll rebound and come nice (magic-friendly). Or maybe Merlin will make sure that magic dies with him for some reason, to ensure the future of Albion.

I am desperately looking forward to some kind of mega- fireworks-ridden showdown between Merlin & Morgana, though.

There are so many loose ends to tie up, I think there will be at least one more series. We got the first series on DVD & are only very slowly rewatching them. Remember the Druid boy that Morgana & Merlin saved? The Dragon warned that boy-when -grown would become a huge danger to Arthur, and I don't think we've seen that boy back, for instance.

Is it just me or does the "romance" between authur and gweneviere just seem rather hmm...stilted ? Im finding it more and more unbelievable by the week, we need some fireworks between them for goodness sake! And why is she still a "slave" when she's openly snogging THE king ? Why is she still living in whatever dungeon slaves lived in those days, when Arthur is in the palace, shouldnt he have moved his "wench" into the palace by now to be queen ? Aye ?

And... Didnt Arthur find it a bit strange that he couldnt lift his sword mid battle with giant ? Surely he ,ust have known that some magic was amiss.

I also dont get the fact that evil morgana had enchanted Arthur's sword BEFORE the fight, yet when the fight was going on she started chanting to the swird AGAIN and what happened ? Did the sword turn round and plunge in its owner ? NO! Did it start turning Arthur into stone from wrist upwards ? NO!
It just became heavy so arthur couldnt lift it Confused that's what required two rounds of chantingHmm

Agree stilted.
But I do understand the arms-length romance, in the wake of the upheavel of his father's death. Arthur's got too much on his plate to do romance properly.
She's got her own digs, actually, not in the dungeon, although they are way too nice to be true to period. She should have to bedshare with at least 3 other women.

Of course, in real medieval times he'd have knocked her up years ago, and would have shipped her out to the provinces with a measley stipend for his "bastard" offspring, so he could chase sans scandal noble women with big dowries and powerful male rellies. Half the kingdom and all the neighbouring kingdoms should have thrown their chattel daughters at Arthur by now. But hey ho, it's fantasy...

But their romance is out in the open now, when all assembled inthe front courtyard in the last episode, gwen was standimg near arthur and he was holding her hand and gazing openly at her! Its just all a bit weird, WE need some passion with a capital P. Grin

I completely agree there needs to be a showdown between Merlin and Morgana, the trailer for next week sees Merlin captured and tortured and told he has to kill his "prince."

I don't think we've seen the last of Mordred, the dragon I remember said nobody should help the boy as he would cause chaos or something and he's not like Merlin.

Excuse my history or lack of it, the time period (even though it's fantasy) is after the Romans left and before the Anglo-Saxons invaded? I thought Arthur the legendary king fought valiantly against the Saxon invaders.
