Goodness me I got so excited I knit when I should have purled and purled when I should have knit and it has taken me 10 minutes to sort it out .

I was just about to post that I feared Matthew's back injury was permanent when suddenly there's hope!!!!!!!
Richard is truly evil! Mary must realise that he's a complete bastard.
However, if he is paying Lavinia does that mean she is just pretending to love Matthew? I'm a bit confused

I don't know. I guess I could be wrong. Maybe not at the start when they first got together. But clearly Sir R has some sort of hold over her.

I missed the bit blooming kids, where Richard was paying Lavinia, how much did he pay her out of interest?

tranquility - it's me speculating. We haven't seen money change hands. but i've rewatched the scene with cora and he's definiely done whatever it takes to bring her back.

I can't help feeling a bit sorry for Edith though. And how can Sybil even be thinking of running away with the chauffeur, especially after he was so rude about her nursing. He's not even that good looking

Mary will almost marry Richard but Mathew (alerted by the dowager) will stand up in church & do the objections bit "It shoulda been me"

Lavinia & Richard will run off to avoid the scandal of Mrs Bates death.

Bates up for murder, but if course he didn't do it. As soon as he made comment about wishing she was the late wife, I knew what was gonna happen there for the next 2 episodes!
Sybil will elope and Lord Grantham will be carried away by the cross class romance and kiss the maid (Cora will see it, but will just be a bit of drama).
Agree with Richard's hold over Lavinia, nothing was really solved about when he was bullying her in the garden (episode 1 or 2) - just some stuff about her uncle but was all in the past, so why was he clearly 'having words'? She's definitely in his pocket.
Mary and Matthew will end up together, but P. Gordon will be discovered to be Patrick Crawleyand Edith will marry him and inherit Downton (I can't see the point in him being in only 1 episode. HE WILL BE BACK).

Pleased to see that as predicted by everybody on this thread Matthew starts regaining feeling as the war ends. We are much better at spinal injury prognosis than the useless doctor.

Gutted to see Lavinia the drip back and found P Gordon the least convincing con man ever. I wish Lord G would just shag the new slut housemaid and get it over with.

I am very worried about the fate of previous slut housemaid. I hope she isn't going to go all Jude the Obscure on us.

Bates is definately going to be arrested.

When Sybil runs off with chauffeur, Sir Richard will dump Mary, she and Edith will be bitter and twisted sisters, while Mathew and Lavinia plan their marriae.

Yes Jane and Lord 6 deffo have the hots.

Cora and her Lady's Maid will scheme to 6et rid of Jane and put Lord 6 back under the thumb. He will have fallen out of love with Cora. There will be a stru66le and the shoe horn will be the weapon which inflicts the final blow. There will be a second cover up, Ethel will be part of it and she will be brou6ht back into the fold.

Bates will have an alibi and Sir Richard will eventually be found 6uilty of the murder of Mrs Bates.

Mr. Bates will eventually marry Anna.

Lavinia will slither up to Lord 6 and throw Mathew over. Mary and Edith are now lost causes, but Mary and Mathew rekindle their love. Edith waddles on throu6h life in a haze of bitterness.

I reckon Janes son is LGs. He was too interested too quickly.

Watched tonight's episode. WW1 over, so can't play the guess which not-too-major character's going to get it in the trenches game. Predicted William dying, Mary's new fiance being a bit of an arse. This series seems to be a lot more predictable than the last so far. Wonder if next week will take us up to WW2, time seems to be whizzing along in Downtonland.
