harpsiheraldangelssing · 06/12/2005 18:45

It id my fave programme on tv
and I fancy ALL of them
feel better for confessing that
(thank god for the anonymity of MN....)

foxinsocks · 06/12/2005 18:46

it's worth watching tonight (if you didn't see it on Sunday) just to see Ellen's lap time. What a competitive woman!!

throckenholt · 06/12/2005 18:49

nothing to do with real drivers and real cars - but just about the most amusing and entertaining thing on TV at the moment. I think all 3 presenters are great and make a good team.

Funny - 10 years ago I never thought I would say I like Top Gear.

Do wish there was a program dealing with teh real issues of driving though as well.

RTKangaSantaMummy · 06/12/2005 19:00

it is on in a mo

watch FIFTH GEAR on CHANNEL 5 11.55 tonight

good prog about airbags

throckenholt · 06/12/2005 19:10

yeah - actually we did see that yesterday - but channel 5 is really fuzzy and painful to watch

RonitZilkha · 06/12/2005 19:27

5th gear, now i think both Tiff and Vicky Butler-Henderson-Jones-whatever are fanciable

NomDePlumPudding · 06/12/2005 19:28

Vicky Butler-Wotsit is sooooooo irritating. In fact the whole of the 54th Gear team are, apatr from the chubby one with the curly hair. It is a very very very poor pretendder to the throne, IMO.

NomDePlumPudding · 06/12/2005 19:29

'pretender', sorry I appear to have slipped into Welsh for a moment there !

NomDePlumPudding · 06/12/2005 19:31

To be fair, I don't JC is sexist about women drivers. Rubbish drivers, yes, but not specifically women drivers.

NomDePlumPudding · 06/12/2005 19:31

RudolphsAuntMabel · 06/12/2005 20:52

I remember watching a car programme with JC and Tiff on it and Tiff was bragging that he was still on Top Gear and JC wasn't anymore, oh how the tables have turned. I admit I love Top Gear, I never miss it, can find JC irritating but that's part of what makes the show so good. I actually stopped watching it when JC left, thank God they got him back.

I agree Vikki whatserchops has got to be one of the most irritating human beings on the planet - have you seen her on Biggest Loser UK?

hub2dee · 06/12/2005 20:55

I rather fancy a woman who can handle a car like Vicki wotsernamebignorks, LOL.

Wasn't it amazingly fab that Ellen completely STONKED her lap times ? What a fabulously unusually great person she is.

ItllBeLonelymumThisChristmas · 06/12/2005 20:57

NDP, you have never read his Sunday Times column then? I am sometimes apoplectic by his comments about women drivers.

ItllBeLonelymumThisChristmas · 06/12/2005 20:59

Agree about the magnificence of Ellen Macarthy though. I can't often think of a woman I full-on admire, but she is one!

Epiffany · 06/12/2005 21:00

I nearly cried when Ellen did that time, I knew it was stonkingly fast though.
My ds 11 adores Top Gear, he even took a photo of a speed camera that had been turned around to point into an empty field and got a signed photo and a promise that it would appear on a show soon

JingleShells · 06/12/2005 21:02

DP and DS are massive Top Gear fans, I let them watch it cos I like Hamster
Me and DP had tickets to go to a shooting in October but couldnt make it in the end, if I'd known there were so many TG fans on MN I would have offered them on here.

hub2dee · 06/12/2005 21:13

Ellen handled that car like a pro. Seriously. Driving on a track (even not during a race), but just doing personal best times, or on a friendly club day (slower car has priority at bends etc.) is friggin scary stuff. She was going for it big time. BRAVE !

ItllBeLonelymumThisChristmas · 06/12/2005 21:14

Wasn't Damon Hill on that list she came top of? I am sure I have seen him driving the reasonably priced car before?

PantomimEDAMe · 06/12/2005 21:20

I love TG even though I don't drive - it's just so hysterically funny. Best non-scripted programme my a**se; they should get an award for their scripts! And Ellen McC's lap was fantastic.

JC actually toned down his sexism years ago when TG used to be really naff. He was criticised for comparing cars to women, what used to be called male chauvinist behaviour. He stopped doing it. Which I find quite impressive ? there aren't many people who have pulled themselves together like that. Sadly.

Epiffany · 06/12/2005 21:20

Jimmy Carr and Simon Cowell were top.

RonitZilkha · 07/12/2005 20:38

Damon Hill is on a different list(professional racing car drivers list)
He was the fastest professional but i think he has been the only professional in star in areasonably priced car so far(apart from the stig)
who is the stig?
