Have you ever seen such a decorating disaster, the girl obviously thought she was a budding interior designer. What a way to ruin an Art Deco house.

Jordon probably has several abodes.

nailpolish · 30/11/2005 10:28

i liked the decor, but none of the clutter (except the red chandelier and some of the paintings, oh and maybe the bed in the 'roof room' (lol))

if i had 600K i would prob buy it and then charge the sister for the hire of a skip

i think it would be fab without all the shite (but i may be forced by dh to get a new non-lilac oven, wtf was that all about and wtf did she get it?)

maybe the spoilt brat sister had a secret mission to make sure no-one bought the house so she could live in it, and fiddle her sister

SecondhandRose · 30/11/2005 12:34

I'd never seen this one before, I do love lilac and pink but the way she stuck the whole lot in together with lilac and swirly wallpaper for good measure it was just a mess.

And how much do I hate spiral staircases, yuk. They took out the bathroom so they'd have had plenty of room for a normal staircase. Those tiles in the downstairs loo looked vile en masse. A few as a splashback would have been OK but she spent 1.5K on them. Idiot and airhead spring to mind.

the house was beautiful but I hated the decor. That room with the shrine and the flock wall paper was revolting. I found it all too busy and a bit tacky. I didn't even like the lilac cooker which surprised me because I love kitchen implements in different colours usually. The viewer was right, they had made you lose the ability to look at the room by making it all so busy. You couldn't stop looking at the decor ..

Awww have said it before on another thread and can I just say it here too please...
I used to know Natalie and her sister Tanya, they went to my school I was in Natalie's classes and she is a really lovely, lovely girl who is exceptionally sweet I don't think she came across particularly well but I'm sure most of it is down to editing. I loved the house and liked parts but not all of the decor.
One of them still lives there (not sure hwo exactly) and it gets hired out for film/ad locations apparently.

bababuba · 27/02/2019 21:42

I just saw a repeat of this 14 years later. I'd love to know at what price it was ever sold at. And how much it's worth now. In fact I'm curious about where that woman is now. Is she the same or has she 'learned' anything.

unknowngirl · 05/04/2019 09:17

Just caught this episode and a quick google search implies that the episode wasn't so cut and dry - the house was last sold in 1997 (Google also spat out that the house was inherited by the girls, not purchased). Google Street View definitely implies that the decorating sister still lived there as of '12. So, no, that luminous abomination never sold.

Complete zombie thread, I know... But I have just rewatched this episode. Her taste hasn't aged well! Property ladder Season 4 episode 1 on All4 for anyone who enjoys a car crash renovation programme.

And a quick bit of Googling finds out that she never did find that buyer with megabucks to buy it off her. She still lives in it, now with her family, according to an interior design article from 2019 (including a few very cropped shots!). Her Instagram was advertised at the bottom of the article and shows she still likes colour...!

Ooh - I remember watching this first time round - I will have to go and look for it, so I can watch it again - thanks for bumping this.

Redglitter · 23/06/2020 17:52

@Shurl I cant find PL anywhere on Catch Up. Where exactly is it? I LOVE that programme

@SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius. Did you find it 😊

Shurl · 23/06/2020 18:01

@SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius and @Redglitter.

Here you go:

Enjoy! :D

Redglitter · 23/06/2020 18:03

@Shurl Thank you so much 👍

BestIsWest · 23/06/2020 18:36

I still remember this too. Off for a rewatch.

Redglitter · 23/06/2020 20:24

I've got mixed feelings about this one. As a development it was ridiculous Natalie personalised it far too much. Ultimately though it worked for her. 16 years later she's still living in it & loving it. Looking at her Instagram pics it suits her & her family down to the ground

CourtneyLurve · 01/07/2020 08:06

Ooh thanks for bumping this. Rewatched Natalie's ep and it all came screaming back.

Her newest renovations look much more contemporary and family friendly: greenandmustard.co.uk/interviews-house-tours/natalies-art-deco-home-by-the-sea/

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 01/07/2020 19:01

I watched it today too - I did end up wondering if Natalie had made the place so much to her taste because she secretly wanted it for herself - which I can understand, but if so, I hope she repaid her sister the money that she put into the project.

I do get a bit irate when I watch programmes where an expert is offering the benefit of their experience and advice, and the clueless amateurs think they know better.

Some of the house ended up being really lovely, but the flock wall paper, and the pink chandeliers were horrible - and the pink and aqua kitchen was a bit much too.

CourtneyLurve · 02/07/2020 09:59

Watched ep2 this morning (good treadmill fodder). Forgot how unrelenting Beeny is when she knows she's right. Grin She kept going on and on about putting the kitchen at the back of the house. The owners finally asked her to stop mentioning it. Then at the end, the would-be buyers all said the same thing, LOL.

Walkingtheplank · 02/07/2020 20:34

Looks like Natalie kept it and kept on spending. She says, "When I first bought it I made some initial renovations. After 14 of living here and getting to know the house we’re getting it exactly as we want it”.

I'd also say she's had a some work done on herself - I wasn't sure it was her face to start with:

Walkingtheplank · 02/07/2020 20:35

Oops, I see someone already linked to it!

Sarahandduck18 · 31/01/2021 10:36

Just watched this on all4.

Was she just pretending to channel 4 that it was ever a commercial development?

Seems obvious looking back she was doing it to live in.

I actually really liked it though.

I wonder how much it’s worth now?
