so, what do you reckon to the way he chucked that half eaten apple over the wall when he went to visit the mad woman? dh reckons there was a SIM card hidden in it....

amberleaf · 14/06/2011 22:17

There was definitely something in it.

I Love Alice too!

He sounded just like him and it was a very long time ago. Thought he had had a major transformation and become a man.
:)

leggymambo · 14/06/2011 22:42

I think it was the swipe card for the doors to help her escape, to Mexico perhaps.......

I wish they'd done a recap of the last series at the beginning, i had forgotten who was who and what had happened

AmberLeaf · 14/06/2011 23:25

Ok iamnotsuperwoman, You're forgiven!

leggymambo, yes it looked more that sort of size, he needs her out so she can help him catch the killer.

This is Gus: (plus he had a lisp!)

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gus_Smith

Um..he is truly delicious, our Luther. I have to stop looking at him and follow the plot!

Punkatheart · 15/06/2011 00:23

PS...Gus is Jamaican and Idris has African parents...it would be hard to grow up and change continent. Smile

diddl · 15/06/2011 06:55

Re the apple-I thought that he´d put a blade in so that she could finish herself off successfully.

(didn´t see the other series, so haven´t clue about the "back story")

moonmother · 15/06/2011 07:51

He put a swipe card in the apple - so she can escape .

He shot the copper in the last one of the last series- Alice obviously took the fall for him, because she loves him so much.

Great first episode- had to watch something lighthearted after though- those masks scare the hell out of me Grin.

Just sad thats there's only 4 episodes, although Idris has given interviews saying he'd like to do lots more Luther - film versions and a 5 day series - sounds good to me....

PinotGrigiosKittens · 15/06/2011 09:41

Loved it! Christ he's sexy. YY a swipe card in the apple. Do you think the young male detective is a goner?

RubyLovesMayMay · 15/06/2011 09:48

So, I get all geared up to watch it, get DD to bed, tidy the house, me and DH settle down with a drink and mini doughnuts. JUST as the programme starts I get not one, but TWO phonecalls, which I had to take as they were quite important. Was not happy.

I had the subtitltes on so I got the general idea of what was happening and was still shitting myself, just not the detail.

Thank God for BBC iPlayer, eh?

RubyLovesMayMay · 15/06/2011 09:52

whoa whoa whoa moonmother what do you mean only 4 EPISODES? seriously? Is that all we're getting? Why would they do that to me?

PinotGrigiosKittens · 15/06/2011 09:54

Yes Sky planner said ep 1 of 4.

Punkatheart · 15/06/2011 12:11

In legend, Spring-heeled Jack did not mortally wound men. But he did jump out at one man and cause him to 'lose control of his carriage.' He also slapped another man. So I don't think he will kill the young copper....

Wolfgirl · 15/06/2011 15:54

Agree, swipe card was in apple.

Question about killer in cop car.... how did he get there without cop knowing about it?
Could it have been, that he was always there, and woman being given lift home knew about it, and enticed woman cop into flat, so killer could kidnap\kill man cop?

That scene was a bit.. no very! unrealistic.

We saw flash trailers for next episode, looked like male cop was being tortured, anyone notice that? eeeww, not nice.

Wish I could control myself and watch all series together, HATE having to wait 1 week for next episode Grin

oh, and I lurvvvvvvvvv Alice. And so does Luther I think. Btw, I'm sure it was Alice that killed the killer cop in last series, and not Luther. The men were hesitant, but Alice got a grip and did the deed for them! Wink

Punkatheart · 15/06/2011 15:58

I think that the woman is definitely involved. There are cameras in the flat....

AmberLeaf · 15/06/2011 16:23

Wolfgirl Question about killer in cop car.... how did he get there without cop knowing about it?

I was wondering that too.

Theres deffo 'chemistry' between Luther and Alice isnt there?

Punkatheart were the cameras in the flat too? I thought it was just the shop downstairs?

Wolfgirl · 15/06/2011 16:25

I think she is his guilty pleasure Grin

iamnotsuperwoman · 15/06/2011 20:41

I obviously just don't pay enough attention to things. Mumsnetting and watching TV at the same time lead to confusion and lack of understanding.
:)

akaEmmaFrost · 16/06/2011 10:24

I am late to the table with this, didnt catch the first two series but saw my first episode last night. I thought it was very good. Idris Elba my new big celeb crush.

I didnt know what he put in the apple either, thought it was just a note and didnt question any further (dullard).

Also how the hell did Punch get into the car? Big hole in plot there but I dont really care.

He was in Thor as well and was the best thing about it. What is about him? He is just lovely.

Punkatheart · 16/06/2011 10:27

He is sleepy, sexy, powerful. He has that gorgeous laid-back vibe. A man you can imagine spending Sunday mornings in bed with......ooh I should stop!

howabout · 16/06/2011 10:33

Not that fussed about the actual crimes but I love the dynamic between Alice and Luther. Glad to know I am not the only one with a thing for Idris, although with Jonathan Rhys Meyers it turned out that it was really his portrayal of Henry VIII I had the thing for rather than him so maybe I just have a soft spot for powercrazed border line psychos

Wolfgirl · 16/06/2011 17:00

howabout... yeah think I know what you mean. Crimes seem to be very much same old same old ha ha ha. But perhaps if we hang in there with this one. I bet it has made loads of people go look up Spring Healed Jack, which I haven't myself, yet. Will do.

crimes usually about money or drugs. Oh yeah or emotive. But ones that tend to get me are serial killers... ooooh err madame. Loved Spiral series 3! Oh and of course if there are little uns involved, then I'm very hooked. Seems to be that I love to hate. Now what does that say about me.

Gone off those CSI drama's though... but soooooooooooo looking forward to Dexter tomorrow night.

OK, so I started on a glass of red early, and perhaps I might just be pouring out some perversions LOL. But... Dexter really is King vigilante.... and I agree, there are some real hoodlums I'd like to set him onto! LOL
