What do you think? So far it seems really good, I do like Brenda Blethyn, its good to have an "odd" female detective on TV, a la Morse etc, with their odd habits. Caroline Quentin in Blue Murder played it too straight in my opinion.

Enjoying it here, esp the northeast setting

Honeymum · 01/05/2011 21:50

I am enjoying. ITV drama can be shite (2 or 4 or 6 hours of your life that you'll never get back kinda bad).

On an irrelevant note...can't Gina McKee do something a bit more cheerful, now and again (where she might be allowed to wear make up ffs)???

befuzzled · 01/05/2011 21:55

Massive over acting I thought

nometime · 01/05/2011 21:57

Is it my tv or is it all a bit colourless? All shades of grey, felt the same about Wallander, still like both of them though.

Honeymum · 01/05/2011 22:10

I am caught up (been watching on Sky+). Went all a bit crap towards the end didn't it?

lucjam · 01/05/2011 22:17

I quite like it, will give it another try next week. You are right about Gina she is always given the "drab woman" part isn't she!! Wasn't she in Love Actually in a wheel chair?

I liked it a lot and will be watching it next week. Really liked the character Brenda played.

dazzlingdeborahrose · 03/05/2011 18:20

Enjoyed it but slightly distracted by the locations. Some I knew instantly, some I recognised but couldn't place. Also slightly RADA northern accent but generally okay. Will watch again.

smoggie · 10/05/2011 22:44

Hmmm - didn't like this - thought Brenda's accent was so contrived and her mannerisms just weren't in keeping with the character. Watched it as I wanted to support a NE setting/drama, but it was a struggle. Didn't find her character believable at all.

smoggie · 10/05/2011 22:44

Agree with befuzzled who managed to put it far more succinctly than I !

diddl · 11/05/2011 10:03

I missed the beginning so was a bit confused.

I quite liked the fact that most of them looked so ordinary, but there was something not quite right.

The guy who was the killer-wasn´t he the dad in Billy Elliot?

And Hugo Speer-not seen him in anything for a while!

Have watched both episodes now and, well, what a ridiculous, over acting and reacting character Vera is. Brenda appears to be aiming for the rough, gruff DI and ending up just unbalanced.

Seriously, what was all that paper throwing about in the office when the older DCon came in?

Story lines as far fetched as the characters' personalities.

Still, I'll watch the next one because I'm a sorry sad sack.
