Blimey. Is all I can say.

And so My Big Fat Royal Gypsy Wedding reaches it's dénouement - the bit where sexual assault is considered a bit of a "tradition".

Someone on my Twitter feed said that, I felt it was worth repeating. The "grabbing" tradition is horrific.

I saw the wedding dress makers price breakdown and I clocked 3 lots of £4k on her list...

Confused

I really ,really want to know how they can afford...well,anything really.

I dont think they claim benefits and there doesnt seem to be a working adult among the wedding family at least. How on earth can they afford their normal day to day lavish lifestyle, never mind the fantastic > jealous< wedding reception.

I loved the clothes the little girls wore-shades of Shirley Temple.

"What happens to the dresses after the wedding. It's not that they have loads of storage space?"

The dresses aren't that massive, and pack down fairly small. It's the huge amount of scaffolding and underskirts which make the bulk. They don't usually buy the underskirts, but hire them and give them back after the wedding. The over "dress" bit would probably fit in a normal size dress bag or packing box.
(Although I don't know what they'd do with that huge train)

Does anyone know how much the average Traveller wedding costs and how much the dress costs, it's obviously all shrouded in secrecy?

Also, after the wedding, what happens to the massive dress, does it get a Caravan of it's own to reside in? I've been wondering this for a while. And how come the women all dress up and most of the men turn up in casual stuff?

lucykate · 30/04/2011 09:44

there was an article in the daily fail which claimed to know the costs of these weddings no idea how accurate it is.

Thought it was horrific to be honest.. just seemed to be a different society . girl gets married knowing nothing , having no expectations expect to be having children.. and I cant understand the whole really "tarty" clothes the girls all wear at weddings, celebrations despite living in a very restricted environment for women.. really dont get that...

Thought the girl (sorry can't remember her name) was v pretty and v nice but just hope she'll be happy

Slavery dressed up as cultural differences. Its really sad when their aspirations don't go beyond finding a husband who is kind and doesn't beat them, as a previous bride said Sad
