I am a total fantasy geek and read the series (minus the last book which is finally out this summer) a few years back.
I was seriously impressed. It was well written, with interesting complex characters and a very realistic plot (as far as fantasy goes obviously).

The cast is looking really good and I can't wait to see the series! It's starting tonight on Sky Atlantic.

Absolutely loved it and am glad they stuck relatively close to the book. Can't wait to see more of Arya and Tyrion, my favourites! Grin

stayfrosty thanks for clearing that up! The credits shrank at the end of the programme - wasn't she in Dexter aswell?

Just realised that I WAS watching Spartacus the other night and have muddled!

bigbadbarry · 21/04/2011 22:37

I watched it and really enjoyed - what is the first book in the series called, please? Will look out for it.

AliciaFlorrick · 22/04/2011 07:12

The First Book is called A Game of Thrones. Song of Fire and Ice Book 1 - it's an excellent book.

Book number 5 will be released in July and I for one can't wait.

I am a big fantasy fan and have read most of the well known series but somehow had missed this one completely!! I am now deep into book 3 and loving it - all available on Kindle for the IPhone by the way. It's about time we had some fantasy books done for TV!! More more!!

pawsnclaws · 26/04/2011 17:36

I missed the second episode last night, did someone say it's repeated on Wednesdays?

Ive been away and not watched any yet! Have it all on sky+ ready tho and bought books on kindle last night...

The kids are brilliant aren't they?

My favourite characters in the books are Tyrion and Arrya and I think the casting for these two is spot on.

They've aged up most of the children though haven't they?

I think the episodes could do with being longer, both times it's come as a shock to me when it's finished I want it to go on for longer.

Paws I think it is repeated on Wednesdays so you will get a chance to watch it.

Can someone please explain the blonde haired people with the dark brown/black eye brows? - it doesn't look like the sort of era for Tyra Bankesque makeovers

I am really enjoying this series. I'm also really impressed that Sky is showing it the day after it's aired in the US. No waiting around =)
