Ooh thought this had finished last week?

OP posts:

Viagra I agree, I have been watching this since I was about 20 weeks or so, and I have learned loads. I was so unaware of the process before this, I love this programme so much for opening my eyes to how it all happens!

StarlightMcKenzie · 04/04/2011 21:58

For sure. No-one can know. The point is though that PTSD is tied up with expectations about how we should cope/behave and how that reflects on our ability to be good mothers etc.

It's the culture we live in, it is the justification of the health service to provide minimal support.

It really doesn't help to judge women who make a fuss so harshly, because you just can't know. Better to assume they are in pain because they say so than criticise their handling of it.

Viagrafalls · 04/04/2011 21:59

Yes, I know - It's going to be hard but most definitely worth it - even if its just for the chance to swear at my DP in a public place Wink

ng1412 · 04/04/2011 21:59

He he any excuse Viagra, I agree. God help them!!!

Viagrafalls · 04/04/2011 21:59

I want to have that midwife!

StarlightMcKenzie · 04/04/2011 22:00

Viagra, my second was a piece of cake! One thing you need to remember is that the nation won't be watching and judging you so you can do what you need to do to make it as comfortable as you can.

shinydiscoball · 04/04/2011 22:01

Viagra I'm due June and have avidly watched every single episode, most more than once.....yet I'm still convinced that I just need a big ol' sneeze and 'pop', out comes the baby! I'm totally right, 100% sure this is a fact.

Oh and my hair will stay beautifully in place and I won't have to worry about having a Monica from friends "It's the humidity!" moment.

StarlightMcKenzie · 04/04/2011 22:03

no not really, as I had the same personality with both of mine.

However, given that it is possible to have a silent labour with no pain at all which is at an extreme end of the spectrum, can you not envisage that it is entirely possible to have an experience at the extreme other end?

Viagrafalls · 04/04/2011 22:03

well, I'm hoping mine will pop out after I hiccup, fully weaned and dressed, clutching a suitcase of money. Isn't that how it happens?

shinydiscoball · 04/04/2011 22:08

Ooh, I didn't know they brought money too! Kind, thoughtful babies :o why didn't I do this sooner?

TobyLerone · 04/04/2011 22:09

Mine did, Viagra. My son is now 11 and training to be a brain surgeon, and my 10 year-old daughter is a successful stand-up comedienne.

ng1412 · 04/04/2011 22:09

Me too Viagra! Right that's me signing off for another week. See you all again next time no doubt Smile

Viagrafalls · 04/04/2011 22:11

Yes - lovely to meet you all! See you next week hopefully... Smile

BaroqueAroundTheClock · 04/04/2011 22:57

"t isn't, just don't appreciate being told that some labours don't hurt as much as others, how the hell would you know that."

Well I can tell you that in labour with DS2 I screamed, the consultant told me t stop screaming, I couldn't, it was fucking agony, I was in so much pain, despite being supposedly drugged up to the eye balls they atually thought I was rupturing!

DS3's labour was also extremely painful - but nothing like as bad as DS2's.

I had nightmares about DS2's birth for years afterwards and was petrified when I went into labour with DS3, yet even being tense and fearing pain like that all over again it was nothing close.

QOD · 04/04/2011 22:59

oh how annoying! thought i was going mad as I was sure i had seen annoying 40yr old diabetic before but stuck it out......

gosh that receptionist is up her own bum

OrangeBernard · 05/04/2011 07:32

Joy was grumpy cause her blood sugar was low though wasnt she?

BalloonSlayer · 05/04/2011 07:52

This wasn't the first episode though, was it?

Wasn't the first one the one - you can see a bit in the opening credits when they say "here's the head" and they both tilt their heads at once - where the woman had her son and her husband at the birth and the husband was PC Twatty McTwat who tried to lock her in the loo and took the piss out of her all the time.

We all LOVED him, didn't we, and wanted to take a knuckleduster to him . . .

WalterFlipsticks · 05/04/2011 09:30

Balloon Slayer, I think that's next week, he was LOVELY Hmm

StarlightMcKenzie · 05/04/2011 09:36

Which one has Ralph? I loved him!

WalterFlipsticks · 05/04/2011 09:43

Ralph was this series, the first one I think, the repeats from last night and next week are from series one.
Agreed... Ralph was ace!
