oh poor sam after all that, a c-section, she must be quite scared. not sure her partner is helping much, thank god for her mum!

TobyLerone · 04/04/2011 21:46

Grin everlong

StarlightMcKenzie · 04/04/2011 21:46

oh no, how awful!

shinydiscoball · 04/04/2011 21:47

But I will re-judge in 8 weeks time when I've put my own pain threshold to the test!

Viagrafalls · 04/04/2011 21:47

Aaanyway - back to the programme... Wink
I feel sorry for her if she doesn't want a c-section.

Totally agree with shiny and Toby.

I didn't realise that this was a 'i've had the most painful labour competition' thread Confused

I once had a splinter that made me cry. Shock

StarlightMcKenzie · 04/04/2011 21:51

It isn't a competition. But it is important that people realise that sometimes, it has nothing to do with ability to cope, pain threshold or fear. SOmetimes it is just unbearable beyond having the will to live.

I have given birth twice. I had many drugs with the first to try to help me cope. I screamed and crawled and thought the bed and walls were eating me. I wished I was dead. I suffered PTSD from the experience.

I had no drugs with the second as despite being agony, it never ever reached the stage it had at just 2cm with my first.

StarlightMcKenzie · 04/04/2011 21:51

everlong, I think I've just explained how the hell I know that!

ng1412 · 04/04/2011 21:52

Biscuit This is filling me with confidence for my own baby's birth.

shinydiscoball · 04/04/2011 21:54

Yay look - Joy's got her dinner!

:o

ng1412 · 04/04/2011 21:55

Viagra - when are you due?

slartybartfast · 04/04/2011 21:55

why didnt the useless dad go in?

StarlightMcKenzie · 04/04/2011 21:55

There was clearly something not going the way it should with Kay's birth. I expect whatever it was was responsible for her intolerable pain.

Viagrafalls · 04/04/2011 21:56

Not until august! It's good to be prepared though right?

Starlight - your experience shows only that you had one labour more painful than the other to you. That doesn't mean that labour was more painful than another woman's because it's impossible to know or to measure this in any meaningful way.
So the women on OBEM may be judged by all of us to be doing better than we did or to be making a huge fuss. It will always only ever be a highly subjective opinion that has no universal application.

shinydiscoball · 04/04/2011 21:56

Aww what a lovely baby - first sign of affection seen between Ed and Sam too. I do love a happy ending.

slartybartfast · 04/04/2011 21:56

aah, i feel guilty now.
my dh had that look on his face no doubt

therealmrsbeckham · 04/04/2011 21:57

Viagra try not to worry. It wouldn't make good TV if they didn't show the most dramatic/sensational parts.

Sam's got a beautiful baby girl Smile

TobyLerone · 04/04/2011 21:57

Or perhaps, Starlight, her hysteria and incredible tension stopped her body from performing as it should. Either way, she's got a healthy baby now, and that's what matters.

Well, that and that Joy has her dinner.
