'You spend all that money and the baby dies anyway' 'Seems like a waste of money to me'

What a callous cow.

shmoz · 09/03/2011 21:49

geepers what lovely boys, lol at the pic of Joe with his cake Smile

I don't think it's callous.

She has spent years and years working with these tiny and vulnerable babies and it's her experience talking I think.

geordie, I was only a little while ago looking at the photos of Riven's dd's birthday party on FB. She looked so gorgeous and happy, but but it is a wonder of modern medicene that she is alive today, and her outlook is not that great.

My dd is also 7 this week. In some ways they are very different but in many ways the same - want the same stuff for their birthday for example. They both have a life, parents who love them, school, friends etc etc. Who should get to decide? The doctors, the parents?

deemented · 09/03/2011 21:51

Wonder would the same be said of an organ recipient, that went on to die, or someone who'd had a heart attack and was saved... then died??

Why is a new life worth less than one that has lived many years?

YesPleaseDrChristian · 09/03/2011 21:53

To think she is the only surviving 23 week old baby in six months.

sheeplikessleep · 09/03/2011 21:53

Lovely mum and dad

BunnyWunny · 09/03/2011 21:54

Matilda doesn't look quire right, I fear there may be some lasting disability.

deemented · 09/03/2011 21:55

Matilda has the classic 'prem' look. They do eventually grow out of it.

Geepers · 09/03/2011 21:55

She does look a little stiff, but she has had a brain bleed so they are anticipating problems

ronshar · 09/03/2011 21:56

Its funny how the doctors say one thing and parents say the opposite!

There needs to be an advocate for these babies who cant speak for themselves.

BunnyWunny · 09/03/2011 21:56

That's reassuring deemented.

Portofino · 09/03/2011 21:56

I am just SO sorry for anyone who has gone through this. Sad

Geepers · 09/03/2011 21:56

It's funny how you don't notice the perm look in your own baby. i can spot it a mile off in other babies but think mine look perfectly normal.

sheeplikessleep · 09/03/2011 21:56

aww the mum and dad can't stop looking at her.

geordieminx · 09/03/2011 21:56

Oh I wasn't saying that they shouldn't be supported, I was saying that was how she felt. She said tins morning that she doesn't enjoy her life anymore, which was so sad.

deemented · 09/03/2011 21:58

Well, given that babies can't actually speak for themselves, who exactly would you have advocate for them?

Doctors can detach themselves. Parents can't. They have all the emotions. It's their child.
