I love this lady, she has planned it all so well...I hope it doesn't go too far off. But 3 of my friends hypnobirthed, and had fantastic second births.

juneybean · 14/02/2011 21:26

Oo I used to love that cfc but I eventually saw them all, have they started new series recently?

CaveMum Me too, not pregnant but very interested in hypnobirthing

sailorsgal · 14/02/2011 21:26

There have been some births kneeling and in the water.

I teach pregnancy yoga and I always tell mums to be to use gravity to their advantage.

ohmeohmy · 14/02/2011 21:26

I don't understand why midwives still direct second stage pushing when the evidence does not support it. women should push when they feel they want to. eg. [[
www.medscape.com/viewarticle/558117_4]] says 'However, expediting delivery by forceful, directed pushing is achieved at the expense of three negative outcomes: reduced oxygenation of the fetus, more frequent trauma to the birth canal, and potential injury to future pelvic floor function.'

twirlymum · 14/02/2011 21:26

I want to put a brush through her friends hair.

Ciske · 14/02/2011 21:26

Thanks ImFab - I was so hoping for the girl's sake it would be Aberdeen. :(

caffeineandchocolate · 14/02/2011 21:26

water birth looks good so far.

babybear5 · 14/02/2011 21:27

watched homebirth diaries..enjoyed it and it gave me ideas for mine

tomhardyismydh · 14/02/2011 21:27

my mw gave a long reprive on the gas and air before and whislt they sticked me as i couldnt have a local anasthetic it was fantastic. Think where enjoying my jibberish conversation about designa vaginas how much I loved my fanjo and could they be kind to it, blah blah. I brightened up there shift.

will she give in for more pain relief as it progresses??

Saggyoldclothcatpuss · 14/02/2011 21:27

AHAHAHAHAHA paracetamol!!! I thought she wasn't naive! Grin

sailorsgal · 14/02/2011 21:27

And yes to hypnotherapy too.

MerryMarigold · 14/02/2011 21:27

Guess it's different for everyone. My internals were uncomfortable but nothing compared to the rest.

Megglevache · 14/02/2011 21:28

Oh my god I was Sammy Confused

DillyDaydreaming · 14/02/2011 21:28

As an ex midwife I have been wondering that too ohmeohmy

babybear5 · 14/02/2011 21:28

They should bottle and sell gas and air Grin

poolet · 14/02/2011 21:28

With my DC1, the VEs were excruciatingly painful.

During 2nd and 3rd labours, I didn't feel a thing.

pooka · 14/02/2011 21:28

I did hypnobirthing with second child - had a radically different birth experience with ds1 in comparison with dd (my first). Not sure whether was because was more aware of the process and what happens, and prepared for pain and had been to ante natal yoga too (cannot express how much I rate this).

The screaming was with third dc Blush

It was a precipitous labour, very fast and intense and didn't really have time to do anything but roll with it. :)

FattyArbuckel · 14/02/2011 21:28

God internal examination was the worst bit of the birth by far for me - still very much a traumatic memory 11 years on...

Liv77 · 14/02/2011 21:29

Have any of the mums on OB been seen using a tens machine? I really found that helped me last time as the Gas and Air made me hurl.

Megglevache · 14/02/2011 21:29

My second birth was a hypnobirth with a Doula an incredible experience, I was well in the zone!

Really interested to see Sammy's outcome..

MerryMarigold · 14/02/2011 21:29

Wow, that girl who shuts down on her contractions is like me. No moaning. But didn't do me any good.

physteach · 14/02/2011 21:30

paracetamol?!?!?!?!?

PaulaYatesbiggestfan · 14/02/2011 21:30

Megglevache · 14/02/2011 21:30
