See, I'm afraid I could tell the accent was fake and that put me off. However, I will have to give him a closer look, especially as Andy has developed scissor phobia.

Susiewho · 25/02/2011 14:29

I'm with you, GothAnneGeddes, the attempted accent is absolutely awful! It's the same ridiculous voice that people put on when they try to mimic my accent. Makes me cringe!

He's rather easy on the eye though! Grin

sodthehousework · 25/02/2011 17:17

why can't he use his own voice so to speak - does every tv gardener have to sound like their from oop north to be authentic? and if so why not get someone who has a genuine accent to play the role.
like the idea of the programme anyway

ouryve · 25/02/2011 21:04

I've found his fake accent rather painful to listen to, but DS2 does seem to love the program. The only problem is for him that the cute vegetable characters might make him even less inclined to eat vegetables than he already is!

MavisGrind · 25/02/2011 21:09

If you take his hat off his hair would come away too. Possibly.

Like the programme though.

krisskross · 25/02/2011 21:10

OMG when they started advertising it a few weeks ago i commented to DH about how creepy he looks!!!

Monadami · 26/02/2011 02:17

I'd not let my DS into his shed.

FooffyShmoofffer · 26/02/2011 09:51

sodthe It's the same reason every bad guy/excon/paedo on Eastenders also has to be Northern too presumably.

I have a feeling the hair does come away with the hat. Can't be real. He is a young bloke acting like his Grandad.

TheMonster · 26/02/2011 09:52

I think he's hot too. Not quite as nice as the Doodle Do man.

FooffyShmoofffer · 26/02/2011 19:16

Aaah Doodle Doo Chris
I thinks his air of can't be arsed. That's the pull.

sevendwarves · 27/02/2011 20:45

GothAnneGeddes I think Andy is quite hot with longer hair!

Mr Bloom doesn't do it for me at all though, I just find him quite annoying tbh!

splurgeface · 11/03/2011 19:26

ReshapeWhileDamp I totally get where you're coming from! And I'm 35! I've noticed the glint in the eye too ... ooh, I'm starting to wibble again!

But the accent - isn't that real? He's Cornish born and has lived in Manchester for years. I think his accent sounds about right for somebody like that.

splurgeface · 11/03/2011 19:28

Oh, and the hair is also real! Look here: www.spotlight.com/interactive/cv/1/a3197/M76719.html

sianheardy90 · 01/04/2011 11:04

ive thought this from day one and since ive read up on him and his fab stage career i like him even more what a fab guy and hes no to young or old for me as im only 21 :) ill do his garden for him anyday!

CelebratedMonkey · 01/04/2011 11:25

Well I think he's slightly very lovely! And quite enjoy watching the show, too...

HarryP2Sophie · 10/04/2011 17:22

Why does he have to put on an accent? Bizarre...obviously some tv arse told him to, you're hardly going to turn down the job because you wouldn't do the accent. Don't fancy him, a bit too pointy faced for my liking, and not sure about the singing. Also why are some of the vegetables not being eaten and in fact promoted to talking, singing, dressing up, whilst all the others are in the garden, awaiting the knife/saucepan/salad bowl...?

If he had a normal name (like Katie) then he could diversify into the presenters roles, like Katie did in fact. Out of the kitchen and hobnobbing with Andy. But how is he going to do that with no first name?! Also get the hat off, makes you look too pointy!

pinkthechaffinch · 10/04/2011 19:37

mr Bloom is a normal name for a gardener.

there was a Bob flowerdew on gardener's world for years.

JackFatCat · 13/04/2011 14:29

I love Chris Jarvis on Show Me,Show Me, but my husband (who watches Nina and the Neurons for the "educational value" ahem!!!) is convinced he's gay,and I have my doubts.........Bless him. :)

womma · 14/04/2011 08:41

Oh Chris is as gay as ninepence, have no doubt

QueenofDreams · 14/04/2011 08:46

urgh no to Mr Bloom! not hot at all. and the accent is bloody annoying. Plus one of the veggies has my DS's name. unfortunately am trapped in house by successive lurgies so ds is getting to know him pretty well.

JaydenMummyLucas · 22/05/2011 10:23

I Love Mr Bloom! From the first time I saw him on the screen, ooft I so would!

Pictish · 22/05/2011 10:24

Yes he is! Oh YES he is!!

I fancy him rotten!

cornishmonkey · 22/05/2011 17:33

I too, am a Mr Bloom fan- YUMMY! ;)

kyacat · 22/05/2011 20:45

I watch it with DS1, although he's not very interested, I enjoy it :o

"That's one of the reasons why I don't like Katie from I can cook. Smile never reaches her eyes and she doesn't feel genuine."

FooffyShmoofer I totally agree! She is over-animated to the point of manic and it's so fake Confused

ginhag · 22/05/2011 20:49

My sister went out with mr bloom when they were both teenagers. By all accounts he is a lovely bloke... And married with a baby :)
