I dont think I will ever get fresh air again. Its all mafia bad boy types. I full biography of Robert Downey Jr one night and, Al Pacino the next. My plus is going to explode. And, my pulse Wink

I am not sure there are enough hours to watch everything I'm recording! Will have to learn to survive on even less sleep...

pagwatch · 03/02/2011 15:10

It is just all so fabulous. I may have to upp the cleaners hours. Or drop a few friends. Or sell one of the children.
I am sure I can find more time somewhere

NetworkGuy · 03/02/2011 15:49

Don't have Sky but am surprised they have not been taken to task by ASA as the channel is only free for the first 6 months or so, isn't it. The TV ads I've seen on Sky 3 (Freeview) make no mention of costs ever coming in...

ng1412 · 03/02/2011 16:04

Well I just watched Thirtysomething and I was transported back to being an 18 year old. Wasn't sure how I would like it, seeing as it's so old now (so am I of course) but it's just as great as it was all those years ago.

Thanks Sky Atlantic, now I know what I will be doing to pass the remainder of time during my maternity leave Smile

Housemum · 03/02/2011 16:54

Isn't it just the HD channel that's free for 6 months, the other channel is included in the "variety pack" which is the basic package?

MrsDmitriTippensKrushnic · 03/02/2011 17:00

I'm looking forward to finally seeing the last two seasons of Six Feet Under, plus I can't wait for Game of Thrones to start (feel like I've been watching trailers and reading news reports for years)

I didn't know about the charging. Sky Atlantic HD isn't 'free' atm - I can't get it because we haven't got the HD package. Do you mean that it'll be charged for on top of the HD charge? I'll be hacked off if they charge for the normal version too!

dickcheeseandthecrackers · 03/02/2011 17:05

I watched vintage Dr Doug and Nurse Hathaway today. God I love early ER.

kittya · 03/02/2011 17:50

yes, it was brilliant but I really cant get into it. Seriously, I will get nothing done.

Caught a little bit of thirtysomething,I loved this as a twenty something, what is weird though is that when I was watching they were ahead of me,now I've done the married and babies thing and I'm ahead of them....very weird. What happened to the actress who plays Hope, have seen most of the others in other things but don't recall seeing her.

MissTFied · 03/02/2011 17:56

Boardwalk Empire is supposed to be good. I'll be watching that.

1234ThumbWar · 03/02/2011 17:58

I was very tempted to record thirtysomething, but have resisted so far.

DH and I are loving Boardwalk Empire - fab, fab.

We also missed Sopranos the first time around, so can't wait.

Yes, we are going to get fat.

SecretNutellaFix · 03/02/2011 18:09

Ok, you're watching Boardwalk Empire- I don't like it very much buut dh is giving at a chance.

One Question.

Margaret Schroeder. Is she German or Irish? Her name is German, her husband is called Hans, but has an American acent. Her accent seems to be a very bad IRish one? wth is going on?

1234ThumbWar · 03/02/2011 18:33

I think it's a bad Irish accent, I was wondering about that myself.

SecretNutellaFix · 03/02/2011 19:18

ok, she's Irish.Grin

clangermum · 03/02/2011 19:48

Might try thirtysomething again but think like mrswoodentop it might be weird as I'm now out of nappy valley whereas before I was nowhere near it. And as others have said, I bet it has dated, but still willing to give it a go (where am I going to find the time for all these fab series, already have commitment anxiety Grin)

I keep spotting thirtysomething actors in stuff. There was a weird time in Brothers & Sisters when Michael and Nancy (married in real life I think) played a couple. And Elliot turns up everywhere, including in West Wing. And the one Gary had a child with I'm sure turned up in an episode of The Good Wife, which I'm now heavily into thanks to a mumsnet thread.

And I also have the thirtysomething soundtrack - it's all coming back to me now.

If anyone is considering Six Feet Under, after I don't know how many series it has the most original ending I've ever seen for a show, but not going to give it away.

And Big Love - loved this series.

turnitup · 03/02/2011 20:36

6 Feet is just brilliant, really wish I could watch it all again for the 1st time

kittya · 04/02/2011 09:38

So, six feet under and the Sopranos? there the two I should be recording from the beginning? Thats all I can cope with.

I couldnt stand Hope and Michael in thirtysomething, you can really see his influence in Brothers and Sisters, cant you?

This thread makes me feel sad as I want to watch all these shows so much but I have virgin media. On the plus side I get TiVo instead when it comes out.

clangermum · 04/02/2011 21:14

Wed 9th, 9pm is the first Sopranos I can see

kittya · 06/02/2011 16:37

Dont get me wrong and, I dont want to seem ungrateful, but Im really dissappointed to notice today that the 24 that is on is season seven. I never saw the first four Sad and I assumed that whatever great series they were repeating would be from the start.

turnitup · 06/02/2011 20:46

Kittya, I think if they are ongoing series they are showing the newest ones first to keep up. Entourage starts tonight on series 7 - I have seen the first 3 or 4, so am hoping they show them all from the start too.

GothAnneGeddes · 07/02/2011 01:10

Big Love? Please, please let them show series 3.

coastgirl · 07/02/2011 10:48

I'm watching Thirtysomething - was a child when it was first on but now I'm 31 and pg with my first and it's scarily relevant! It is dated but not as much as you'd think - funny how a US TV lifestyle of 20 years ago is much like a real-life UK lifestyle of today...

turnitup · 07/02/2011 12:07

Im watching too coastgirl, I thought the 2nd ep looked much slicker than the first. Really enjoyed the 2nd one too with the 'mum' issues - very simular to my own situation infact. It will look less dated as time goes on.

coastgirl · 07/02/2011 12:22

I'm watching the third one and we have definitely been there - we bought a house that needed "some work" but two years on still seems to need the same amount even after spending a lot of time and money on it! The whole we-can't-do-that-until-we've-done-this thing seems eerily familiar.
