I loved this weeks. It was less melodramatic than last week.

thefirstMrsDeVere · 17/01/2011 22:04

Pack it in woman!

OH is going for the snip in a couple of weeks. If he didnt I would be watching the next series going 'I am 38+ and I shouldnt be watching this cos its scaring me'..

Thats what I did last year after saying DC4 was my last.

I have no will power Grin

noeyedear · 17/01/2011 22:11

I think they had a boy, as they showed an 'It's a boy' balloon, and we knew the sex of the other 2.

EmmaBemma · 17/01/2011 22:11

three lovely calm births this week.

Maisiethemorningsidecat · 17/01/2011 22:15

Did they all have boys? I did watch it, just kept missing the "it's a...." moment!

juneybean · 17/01/2011 22:16

No the youngsters had a girl :)

Maisiethemorningsidecat · 17/01/2011 22:17

They were all lovely tonight....good to see slightly older women giving birth as well - we do sometimes Grin

jetgirl · 17/01/2011 22:45

I feel I sort of have to stick up for PAH here. Most of this appears to be filmed in labour ward, which is more medical than the mw-led unit. I was very active in my second labour, not so much my first because of problems. Both of my labours were in.mw-led unit until complications meant I ended up.downstairs in labour ward. I had a lot of say in how I wanted to give birth.

Is it weird that this programme makes me want to give birth again?!

ohnanaWHATSMYNAMEohnana · 17/01/2011 23:23

This tacky voyeristicshit

Northernlurker · 18/01/2011 08:14

I thought Lydia was amazing. I cried a lot watching that - no idea why! I share reservations about the bf. I hope seeing her give birth like that will make him understand how amazing she is but if not well her mum and her big sister seem great and they will help her. It's a bit depressing to be so Hmm about the dad but my dh was 21 when dd1 was born and he was about 25 years more mature! We made our choices together and made our life out of that.

expatinscotland · 18/01/2011 08:52

Exactly, Northern. My DH was 24 and he was so excited about becoming a father. He was far more mature.

He always made sure I took my vitamins, chose clothes and sheets and stuff for DD1, the whole lot.

After she was born, I had been awake for 32 hours and had a forceps birth. I fell asleep/passed out and he just held her and walked her round.

Some men are goofballs now as they can play like infants all their lives.

In the past, often, a man had to behave like one from an earlier age.

I need to stop watching this programme. It's making me want another baby and I swore I wasn't having anymore. I loved giving birth, especially the gas and air Grin

BalloonSlayer · 18/01/2011 09:27

I did have reservations about both of them TBH, talking about whether they "keeping it" or not on a programme they are likely to show their DD when she is older. (And don't get me started on the fecking attention-seeking sister telling her to have an abortion: "she can't have a baby, I haven't got one and I'm older than her.")

However in the DP's defence, I thought his mourning for the loss of his party lifestyle at least showed that he knew he would have to change and his life would have to change in order to look after his new family.

How many young parents-to-be are adamant that their life can and will go on just as it always did? Sounded like he had his head screwed on reasonably well.

higgle · 18/01/2011 09:31

Have not read whole thread but can anyone explain why the water birth person kept her top on - semed very strange to me, surely she would have been more comfortable naked in the pool?

fifitot · 18/01/2011 09:33

If I was on telly I'd keep my top on too!

expatinscotland · 18/01/2011 09:36

'Have not read whole thread but can anyone explain why the water birth person kept her top on - semed very strange to me, surely she would have been more comfortable naked in the pool?'

her choice. some people prefer keeping their top on. maybe she didn't want to be naked on telly.

SexyDomesticatedDab · 18/01/2011 09:42

DW was amazed that one of the women still had 'perfect' make up after giving birth!

HelenLG · 18/01/2011 09:53

I wanted to have lydia's birth...I ended up with 13 hour induction, failed epidural and IV anti-biotics, stuck to the bed, crying my eyes out because I'd let DH go home to take a shower and then my waters broke properly...DH made it back in time though.

I also had 3 midwives...

fedupofnamechanging · 18/01/2011 09:55

I wish they did a follow up interview with the parents to see how they are getting on/what they called the baby etc.

Would love to know if Lydia has seen the light wrt her boyfriend. I'd be tempted to ask if he was on his phone during the conception too!

laughinglil · 18/01/2011 10:04

maybe she wanted to keep some dignity! i wasn't naked when i gave birth pool or no pool!
