I mean that episode was just so strange, who the hell was that girl with darrens girlfriend? Am i hoping too much to think that the enders people have filmed that episode on the quick to finish the storyline early? they didnt show much of the funeral, or of any other storyline really, it didnt seem to fit.

sorry if this has been done already...

Saggy mine were erhm ... distinctive too...Grin

elphabadefiesgravity · 12/01/2011 00:27

I don't think it is the end. I can't find any mention of scenes being re-shot like there was over the Bradford prostitute murders/Lucas storyline.

Hopefully I'm wrong

confuddledDOTcom · 12/01/2011 00:27

I'll tell you tomorrow Grin

It could be she was apologising for Friday or she could have decided to give him back. TBH I wouldn't be surprised if the day before we visit them they've fixed it and it's all "see, we told you we were sorting it"

The bit in the pub (which was all I saw) reminds me of a story Bill Roach tells. When Corrie was live they had a problem one episode and nothing was ready, the got Bill to sit in a car for half an hour and talk. All he could think of was slating the other characters (in character). It was apparently a very odd episode because it was an unscripted emergency.

Darnsarfupnorf · 12/01/2011 00:33

x post

i wondered if it was a decoy and jeck will swoop in and blame it on PND and take him back?

but then thinking about it it did seem quite rushed and although the jodie/poppy pub scenes made me chuckle they were a bit wierd!

Darnsarfupnorf · 12/01/2011 00:33

*jack even lol not jeck oops!

MilkNoSugarPlease · 12/01/2011 01:28

The whole episode was just strange! And badly put together

therefore, I hope, she has handed him back!

Oh and while we're on the subject (ish) why on earth were Fatboy and that girl at the funeral?!

Newgolddream · 12/01/2011 07:07

She handed him to Kat - but I dont think she is handing him "back" iykwim - I think shes just letting Kat hold him as she didnt allow her in 1 of last weeks episodes when Kat came over to her flat and asked to hold him.

kayah · 12/01/2011 12:38

but it looked as if Kat recognised her son though

storminabuttercup · 12/01/2011 12:45

I don't think it's over until April
it was more hideousness to spin it out Sad

GwendolineMaryLacey · 12/01/2011 12:54

It's not the end. That scene was in it all along, isn't one of the re-written scenes. I gather that Kat thinks Ronnie is trying to make her feel better by 'lending' her James. Anyway, she gives him back to Ronnie.

CoffeeGoneColdAgain · 12/01/2011 12:57

Kayah my thoughts exactly, the way she looked at Tommy made me think that she instantly recognised him! I don't think its over just yet though, More likely that she was going to hand him back and then thinks again or as Darnsarf says Jack will come in and take her and the baby out!

Apparently, Charlie is leaving tonight!

wannaBe · 12/01/2011 15:48

if it was over then wouldn't it be in the media? all the breakfast television/tv shows/twitter etc discuss television and what happened - the bbc wouldn't have missed the opportunity to make it known that the baby had been handed back.

Sharon marshall made it very clear on Monday's this morning that the baby wasn't going to be given back in the funeral eppisode.

I suspect they perhaps reshot some of the funeral scenes because it was billed to be a very dark eppisode and they anticipated further complaints.

And would she really recognise her baby straight away? Maybe after being separated for an hour or two/day or two but after two weeks? I'm not entirely sure. There would surely come a point at which she wouldn't. Babies have been switched before in hospitals and the mix-up not known for years, so it clearly can happen that a mother doesn't recognise her baby. Also, a mother who had lost her baby wouldn't even have that consideration that the baby she was holding was hers iyswim.

confuddledDOTcom · 12/01/2011 21:24

You need to wait till spring, there's no plans on changing it sooner.

They did cut a few scenes but ironically the awful pub scene was always in it!

(straight from Brian Kirkwood's mouth - lovely guy)

Usually when a baby is switched in hospital it's before the mother has seen the baby. It used to be common to not see the baby and for it to stay in the nursery the whole time you were in, now they're a lot more careful.

belledechocchipcookie · 13/01/2011 19:31

God, here was me hoping they'd do the right thing. Angry

juneybean · 13/01/2011 19:33

FFS

PlumBumMum · 13/01/2011 19:39

FFS Imissed the start WTF happened please tell me its not what I said I hoped didn't happen

Did they brush Ronnie off as a mad old bint

juneybean · 13/01/2011 19:47

It's what someone said earlier, that Kat thought she was being given James, and then Jack comes in and takes the baby back.

belledechocchipcookie · 13/01/2011 19:52

Yup, Ronnie's a mad old POSTNATAL bint. It just gets worse! Angry

IAmReallyFabNow · 13/01/2011 19:54

juneybean · 13/01/2011 19:56

Another shite episode

belledechocchipcookie · 13/01/2011 19:57

God, now all women who have just given birth or lost a baby are hormonal and crazy. Thanks BBC! Angry

suzikettles · 13/01/2011 20:01

This is so stupid. A mother would know her baby instantly.

It's not only offensive and crass, it's just completely unbelievable - even in the context of a soap.
