Also, GPs are trained to look out for anorexia and it is also taken more seriously, as it usually affects vulnerable young girls. Whereas most doctors' attitudes to fat people seems to be 'FFS, stop eating so much'

TheCrackFox · 05/01/2011 22:19

I hope this gastric bypass works.

I know its not nice but I can't believe how fat he is. Takes your breath away but not in a good way.

TheCrackFox · 05/01/2011 22:20

I have only just started watching this but how long has he had carers and how much weight did he put on since they started?

noeyedear · 05/01/2011 22:20

I would imagine they may say that at 20 stone, but at 30, 40, 50 stone, surely alarm bells would be ringing? I did feel sorry for him though when he started crying.

Deaddei · 05/01/2011 22:20

I'm not watching but saw a bit this morning-how does he afford his food?

PaulaYates · 05/01/2011 22:21

it is our culture though
kids and teens snacking on smoothie and muffin in costa on the way home from school
loads of folk never get hungry just like the doctor said
that needs to change - its cultural not like anorexia
much bigger problem

singingcat · 05/01/2011 22:21

I am surprised they didn't give him a band earlier tbh

TheCrackFox · 05/01/2011 22:23

There is not enough money on the planet for me to put cream on him. I feel sick.

PaulaYates · 05/01/2011 22:23

lovely hands - dainty

noeyedear · 05/01/2011 22:26

Oh good God!

PaulaYates · 05/01/2011 22:27

what is that?? missed a bit

noeyedear · 05/01/2011 22:29

It's a bit of his upper thigh! They had to cut it off so he could stand up!

pooka · 05/01/2011 22:30

Vom.

TheCrackFox · 05/01/2011 22:31

Wow, he was stuck in bed for 10 yrs. He must have been very depressed.

NewYearResolution · 05/01/2011 22:32

His carers are amazing, unjudgemental, not many people could do that job.

Thingumy · 05/01/2011 22:39

How the hell did he afford 20,000 calories a day?

singingcat · 05/01/2011 22:41

That is a fuck of a lot of food.

I reckon if I sat in front of telly and ate ALL day I could get down about 4000 or 5000. But 20???

dizzeelizzee · 05/01/2011 22:43

Thingumy - maybe through the £700 a week funding he was getting Shock

I just kept wondering where his cock and balls were??!!!

nurseblade · 05/01/2011 22:47

Some of the posts on this thread are cruel. Why is it acceptable to some to mock this man's illness?

donkeyderby · 05/01/2011 22:48

Anorexia is treated seriously because it has the highest mortality rate of ALL mental illnesses. It is very dangerous.

He has a terrible eating disorder and I sympathise with him for that. However, just why his doctors didn't enforce a diet during the long period he was bedbound just defies all logic. I wonder where the law stands on this?

dizzeelizzee · 05/01/2011 22:48

He CHOSE to go on television. He chose to be naked for the majority of the show.

I think its not unreasonable for people to comment on how he looks, it is shocking!

ChickensAreFlyingUnderTheRadar · 05/01/2011 22:49

Sorry, but I couldn't find sympathy. And everyone around him feeling sorry for him allowed him to get that huge in the first place. He certainly wasn't popping to the chippy himself. I'm much more a fan of tough love than feeding someone's misery tbh.

singingcat · 05/01/2011 22:50

Yes I think it probably is easier to die of being too thin than of being too fat. I think potassium is the key one, if you don't have enough of that you can have a heart attack. Mind you, he could have a heart attack at any time

donnie · 05/01/2011 22:50

I have watched programmes like this before - the feeders have a lot to answer for in my opinion. There must be someone getting all that high calorie crap to the poor bedridden sufferers mustn't there? I mean who actually goes out, buys the food and then feeds it to them?

Those gigantic bulges of fat under his crotch where his penis ought to be - is that fat or is it a distended willy? (genuine question(?

dizzeelizzee · 05/01/2011 22:51

Fat I think.

It takes an awful lot of food to simply maintain that sort of weight let alone to gain!

His 'carers' were making things worse for him, not helping.
