1/6 - Towers of Silence

Det Supt Boyd, owner of the best beard on TV, and his intense cold case squad, return for a new series. This first story, which ends tomorrow, is a typically multi-layered mystery about the killings of a Heathrow Airport baggage handler, found mutilated in a water tower, and a man whose mummified body is in the hold of a decommissioned jumbo. Boyd himself (Trevor Eve) is even more twitchy and distracted than ever - it seems he's still tormented by the murder of young Mel in the last series. Poor psychological profiler Grace (Sue Johnston) tries to keep him from turning into a total sociopath. Watch for a strangely brief guest appearance by Little Britain's David Walliams, in a straight role as a shadowy cop. It's all very odd...

tamum · 27/09/2005 17:28

Oh, hello BTW

foxinsocks · 27/09/2005 17:29

I don't watch it in the dark (but that's cos my eyesight is so bad and I hate wearing glasses to watch telly so I have to have the light on!).

It was very good - I taped Touch of Frost and watched it aswell and although I enjoy that, I had the plot figured out in about 20mins whereas with Waking the Dead, I still feel the suspense.

RTKangaMummy · 27/09/2005 17:31

Thank you fis

I love the atmosphere it provides in the dark

I just wanted to see if I was deffo weird or not

I absolutely loved Waking the dead last night but when it ended I fully expected there to be anoth episode tonight as it didn't really finish properly for my liking. Talking of liking am I the only 28 year old who think Boyd (Trevor Eve)is the sexiest man alive apart from Grissom in CSI
Fact Trevor Eve (Boyd) in real life is married to the woman who plays Tricia in Holby City

RTKangaMummy · 27/09/2005 20:24

I used to fancy him like had as SHOESTRING

3/6 - Subterraneans

You don't have to be eagle-eyed to spot similarities between this murdermystery drama and a real-life case, recently a C4 documentary, The Man Who Faked His Life. Toby Stephens is a shifty medical expert who is in the frame after Detective Boyd (Trevor Eve) and his team discover two buried, mummified bodies. It's an absorbing story, if you can stomach Eve's actor-y tics and his tendency towards random shouting.
