Det Supt Boyd, owner of the best beard on TV, and his intense cold case squad, return for a new series. This first story, which ends tomorrow, is a typically multi-layered mystery about the killings of a Heathrow Airport baggage handler, found mutilated in a water tower, and a man whose mummified body is in the hold of a decommissioned jumbo. Boyd himself (Trevor Eve) is even more twitchy and distracted than ever - it seems he's still tormented by the murder of young Mel in the last series. Poor psychological profiler Grace (Sue Johnston) tries to keep him from turning into a total sociopath. Watch for a strangely brief guest appearance by Little Britain's David Walliams, in a straight role as a shadowy cop. It's all very odd...

Boyd got arrested for causing that accident but he couldn't remember a thing. They released him on bail. He kept remembering snippets but he remembered initially himself being behind the wheel.

Spence didn't believe him and that really pissed Boyd off. Grace did and the pathologist type woman (can't remember name) did further investigations.

Can't remember next bit but essentially, they figured out that the driver (the bloke whose dna was on the gun) had no connection to the rich bloke who was being blackmailed (they asked rich bloke if he knew the driver and he said he didn't). Spence caught up with someone who knew the driver and it turned out that people thought he was a police informant. That led the team to relook at why they thought he was involved - the pathologist woman relooked at the bullets that were supposed to be from the scene and found out they had not been manufactured when the shooting occurred and they realised that the bullets had been planted to throw them off track.

The policeman (who Boyd saw in the Barons Court office) took the driver bloke out and shot him (so obviously it was him and Vince in prison who had set them off the trail). In the meantime Vince (think that's his name!) is realised from prison because of the appeal in the case and his terminal cancer. The team realise they've been led astray and it turns out VInce was blackmailing the doctor to tell the authorities he had cancer (by setting up the doctor to have sex with the woman who drove Boyd in the accident).

THey can't figure why that woman (the wife, driver of Boyd's car) is involved. Vince comes out of prison, the new French one looks at the woman's house and finds loads of pictures of her (woman) and her husband. Boyd and Spence are following her - Boyd walks in on her as she is in Vince's hotel room. She lured him there (Vince thinks he is about to get lucky) but she asks whether he's guilty (yes) and shoots him (Vince) 3 times just like he shot her husband.

Sorry am really crap with names.

oh and the prison doctor gave neuro drugs to Vince to pass his lie detector and gave date rape drugs to Vince and his associates so that they could give them to the woman and they could drug Boyd.
