I was really hoping for Katie to go, but I think that Bellamy really did deserve to leave after that utterly dismal performance in the sing off. They looked like they hadn't rehearsed the song at all, and it was all very embarrassing. Katie's sing off wasn't great either, but there was no way she could conceivably have been worse than Bellamy.
DH and I thought it was very interesting how Katie's demeanour changed when it went to deadlock. Up until that point she had been fake crying and all the usual attention seeking crap. We really don't think she was expecting it to go to deadlock, and when it did she was genuinely shocked (and possibly angry). The fake tears stopped immediately, and we got some genuine emotion.
I really don't think she's that talented, or at all original. I really don't like the breathiness of her voice, and the quirkiness is contrived and extremely irritating. She doesn't come across as a 'strong, confident woman', she comes across as arrogant and entitled. It may well be that the public respond more negatively to arrogance and entitlement in women than they do in men, but it still isn't a desirable way to come across. I think the X Factor machinery can only really amplify these traits and I don't see how they're going to manage to present her in a more palatable way.
