Spooks - is Lucas/John/whatever on the way out so he can be a Hobbit

I am wondering? Becasue I, quite frankly, haven't got a clue what's going on there any more

I have spent the morning trying to think of spy related food, I am too knackered though.

their days are measured in drinks not food

they bustle in first thing in the morning with paper cups of coffee

pour water into irritating glasses during the meetings or plastic cups for interrogations

Harry's whisky in more irritating glasses and large glasses of red wine if they are at home at the end of another draining day

I nearly bust a gut laughing when Simon R B said 'I think they've forgotten the hazelnut syrup', looking mournfully at his Starbucks. That was a wonderful bit of writing, delivered SO brilliantly

I think Lucas is more of a meat 'n' potato pie man.
Ruth knits her own organic lentil soup.
Harry scoffs chips in private in the loos.

IIRC Lucas is more into fish and chips, judging from his first appearance in series 7.
( Am just catching up on DVD, BTW, not possessed of an elephant's memory)

I can think of a couple of occasions when Adam stressed the importance of ordering sandwiches and fruit for everyone, during and even before talking about the op itself.

Unless I've been watching the series out of orde (not impossible), I think he did it twice in quite quick succession which made DH and me laugh that he was secretly a bit of a Joey Tribbiani sandwich obsessive.

Same here Caoimhe - I kept finding myself playing Angry Birds when it was on, or checking Twitter to see what @benwillbond was posting about RA (usually something about the tightness of his jeans ), so I decided to stop watching it and read a book instead!

I've lost the plot - miss Roz and Rupert Penry -whatsit - don't feel anything for the characters anymore and will be defecting to the Little House next week. So who is Lucas in the Hobbit?

Sorry - just reread thread - he's playing Thorin??? King of the Dwarves. Not very sexy really - not that there are really any roles for sexy guys in The Hobbit.

You would have thought that during the 8 years Lucas spent in a russian prison, when they weren't sure if he was a double agent, they would have dug around in his background! Harry used to be in the Double Deckers.

He's not actually a hobbit, he's a goblin (or possibly one of the elves, or ewoks or whatever other creatures live in middle earth)

We have a copy of "[spooks] The Personnel Files", which is a great fun read for fans of the first five or six series if you haven't already read it. In the section on Malcolm there is an email from a mysterious Section X (HR probably) to harry pointing out that Malcolm continues to take more than 90% of his meals in the office canteen and this is far more than anyone else.

Harry's response is that Malcolm lives alone and can barely make himself a cup of coffee. Office canteen is there for a reason. Don't send me anymore emails on this subject.

DH has a very distressing theory that Ruth is behind all of it and is setting Lucas up as some sort of revenge on Harry. I do hope he is wrong.

I don't understand how Lucas can have secret identity and Ruth not know about it. She can identify miscellanous terrorists from grainy CCTV footage. She knows everything.

I rely on the plot being roughly the same every week to get me through. And ogling the totty obviously.

Caoimhe - yes, Maya's husband Mike is the down and out looking person that Lucas gave the Albany file too. He was also pretending to have had a stroke when using that persona too.

I don't see how Lucas can have a second identity, or not even be Lucas - you really would have thought someone would have noticed!

oh I LOVE the idea of Ruth being a bit of a villain, though it would be an awfully similar twist to the Connie one wouldn't it

and that is very pleasing news about the canteen (though shouldn't Malcolm have been at home eating soup with his mother? or was she just one of the props in the house they set up for Lucas?)

Malcolm's mother who lives with him is definitely not a stooge - she was mentioned on a regular basis when he was still in the series.

Thanks for clearing that up HauntingTheTardis!! When I first saw Mike in Maya's house I thought "Why is Dirty Den there?" - I'm rubbish at faces!!!! [hgrin]

Now I've read through this thread I'm convinced its Ruth but it hadn't occured to me before! She was in love with Harry for years but didn't accept his proposal and she saw her partner shot (and lost her sort of stepson).

but but but - even if Ruth is setting him up, then Lucas/John is still being very norty isn't he? and thus likely on his way out to allow for hobbit related activities?

He is being norty to protect himself and his new set-up but what if Ruth is working with that Mike guy to exact some revenge we don't know the motive for, and Harry has rumbled them but is letting it play out? I really need to get out more [hblush] Also, wasn't Ros pretend buried then came back and then was killed?!

Ooh er - much too intellectual for a Monday night!

Harry knows, he must know, Harry knows everything! He will be 20 steps ahead of them all, which is why he looked pissed off at Ruth. He will have a very special reason for letting Lucas be a spook, even though he is really John. And Malcolm is in on it, but only partly.

Am devastated at the thought that Ruth might be on the dark side....
