What a load of tosh-terrible script, acting, makeup and costumes. Donald Sutherland looked like he was suppressing laughter at some of the lines he had. Some scenes reminded me of Monty Python. Wasted 2 hours watching because DH wanted to -we wont be watching again...

Katisha · 17/10/2010 12:39

I wonder if it's actually possible to do a convincing medieval drama though?

sethstarkaddersmummyreturns · 17/10/2010 13:04

good question Katisha, am going to start a thread

sethstarkaddersmummyreturns · 17/10/2010 13:08

convincing costume drama thread

JoBettany · 17/10/2010 13:10

Yes to Monty Python! That is exactly what it reminded me of.

PuppyMonkey · 17/10/2010 13:13

I thought it was all right. Bit slow. Liked the bit where shje pissed on them Grin. Don't know whether I can commit to six episodes or whatever it is.

PumpkinsandPotPourri · 17/10/2010 15:40

Yeah, the mother talking as though they were at the breakfast table while her hubby did his business - yuk. Then the bath scene with the mother and son - double yuk. Will be watching no more

Butterbur · 18/10/2010 11:06

I enjoyed it. I obviously have no taste.

liath · 18/10/2010 15:46

Now I know why I enjoyed it, it's done by the same company who did Spartacus. I loved Spartacus. I definitely have no taste and I don't care Grin.

V funny review in the guardian where reference is made to the dodgy accents including "the default pirate/ West Country farmer one actors automatically adopt as soon as a jerkin goes on" Grin.

Liv77 · 26/10/2010 20:28

Late to the thread but i'd sky+ the first couple and only just got round to them.

After reading some of the comments here I wasn't expecting much but I really quite enjoyed it. Then again like Liath I also enjoyed Spartacus. I'll watch most things "historical". Although am finding Downton Abbey a bit of a let down.

DH also enjoyed Pillars and described it as rollicking good fun. We may play TV bingo during the fortcoming episodes when we have to try and guess the next implausible plotline. Grin. I havn't read the book but my mum said it was one of her favourites.

lissieloucifer · 26/10/2010 20:33

Im loving it.

I also have no shame and love anything that is a bit crap.

Smuddy81 · 26/10/2010 20:43

The actor who plays William Hamleigh is awesome! So awfully evil, just how he should be!
