why would a surgeon give up his job to become an apprentice? what a waste of training.

I'm not 100% convinced he is a surgeon. Not sure he's old enough. Probably on the surgeon training path, but not qualified yet. Probably having difficulties finding a good job where he can complet his training, or his only offer was in an area he wasn't keen on.

Oooh - I like like like Jamie. He seems like he has integrity, a good "business brain" and is damn easy on the eye too . Team Jamie yay!!

I love Stuart. He is funny. So confident for that age though.

hatty - its because they ARE unemployable - I mean if you were really serious about your career would you go on this gameshow - completely humiliate yourself by becoming a laughing stock of the country and therefore becoming more unemployable. No employer is going to have watched last night and thought 'I like that Dan's style - I want him'.
I love the apprentice but cannot see it as anything but a gameshow full of wannabes and ceratinly would not want to employ any of those egos.

Sorry to harp on about their unemployability but doesn't the winner get a mega salary and a job with Lord Sugar (still preferred Sir Alan)? I'd like to see a programme following up the winners and what became of them!

The candidates seem more aggressive with every season - I would think they present themselves like this to actually get a chance to go on the programme (on the 'You're fired' they all normally eat large portions of humble pie). Quite a few of the more successful ones from previous years have made careers as public speakers or boosted the profile of their own business ventures. Maybe we have a little bit of a Big Brother effect here, too.

Finally watched the repeat last night. Christ, these lot are definitely the most overtly obnoxious so far. Glad Dan is gone. That gobby blonde one won't last long either!

Me and DH have great fun trying to work out what their previous job titles actually mean. Stuart is a "Telecoms Entrepreneur", which we think means he owns a mobile phone shop
