Two hearty Christian youth workers, Dan and Rachel, lay down a challenge to 12 teenagers to give up sex for five months. The initially truculent guinea pigs, members of the so-called Romance Academy, react as if someone's asked them to go without food or to sleep rough. But gradually they start to think about a lot more than sex as they ponder the nature of relationships and their own self-esteem. The interesting premise makes for a surprisingly engaging series. Part of their journey involves a trip to America, where the British teenagers are confronted with the hard-line abstinence movement that's rooted in evangelical Christianity.
