Which TV shows are your DCs randomly scared of?

DS1 is terrified by Sarah Jane in Mighty Mites (actually that eye make up scares me slightly) and also by Grandpa in My Pocket (which I find harder to understand).

He's so scared of Sarah Jane that he runs across the room to pull out the plug if so much as the trailer comes on! However he's quite happy to watch her in Higgledy House etc.

Please tell me I'm not alone in having an abnormally sensitive child Grin

The numbertaker isn't scary - he would obviously run away crying if you flicked his ear. The puzzler, on the other hand, is much more sinister. His song includes the line 'if you can't sort the puzzle out, the puzzle will sort you'. I think that's quite menacing. DS loves it, though.

I think Sarah-Jane must put on all that eye make-up to hide the plastic surgery scars. She looks like a 50 year old woman trying to look younger these days, what is she thinking?

DS is terribly scared of the Charlie and Lola episode "Charlie is Broken" where he breaks his arm. He cries and hides whenever it comes on. He is 5 Hmm

Tegan oh my goodness, the little wheeled bear on Teletubbies! Had forgotten that. I think it was the voiceover that was truly terrifying...."I'm the bear!!! I'm the bear!!!!"

I think most kids are scared of Auntie Mabel. It's the way she tuts at Pippin. You wouldn't want to spend time with her in real life would you? And she has so very many blouses. And, the sheer horror of the one where she sets the house on fire and gets trapped in the pantry. Am awful glad we live in a pantry-free house - could see all kinds of nightmares evolving out of that one.

ds1 runs out of the room whenever Tellytales comes on in case it's jack and the beanstalk.
I'm not sure that counts as random though - seems quite rational to be scared of an anthropophagic giant.

JebusBuiltMyHotQuads · 28/08/2010 08:18

Shock sethstark My DD is scared of giants too! Has been for quite a while now. She will not look at the screen if she sees one or she will activly run out of the room.

Weird thing is though is that I suffer a bit from megalophobia. I often had nightmares dreams involving giants growing up.

I am sure that I have never told her that though Confused

Get this then...

When my son was only about 5 months old, he was sat in his bouncy chair and Razzledazzle came on. He panicked and cried. I didnt realise it was that that he was crying about until it happened a few times after. He is 5 years old now and still has nightmares about him! He talks about him alot and always has done, even though he hasnt seen it for years. He sometimes says that he thinks razzledazzle is downstairs, or when he jumps in fright, he says he thought it might have been razzledazzle and nervously laughs. The programme has only come on a few times over the years since the first time he saw it and i always have to run to the tv to turn over the channel because he panics and puts his hands over his eyes.

He isnt scared of anything else at all on tv, even the scary looking characters!

I cant believe he still hasnt got over it, does anyone know why this could have affected him so much? And does anyone else have a child with the same fear?!

Nothing they make today comes close to being as scary as Chorlton and the Wheelies. That witch.

FrozenNorthPole · 05/02/2011 16:39

Another vote for numberjacks. She also freaks out at certain passages of music during In the Night Garden, and hates it when Upsy Daisy's bed follows her around.

Also, interestingly, exactly the same fear as cyteen's DS re: bumpy rides in ITNG (both Ninky Nonk and Pinky Ponk) - I wonder what it is?
