Anyone watch this tonight? I thought it was really good - gripping stuff. I also have a soft spot for Goran Visjnic.
Looking forward to next week!

Oh Good... I've recorded for later... glad it hear it has promise.

BenHer · 04/08/2010 12:02

Loved it!

anonymousbird · 04/08/2010 12:22

I LOVED it, was totally hooked in, but it is just bonkers - a real mix of great and awful acting, but James Nesbitt and Goran are just treeeee-mendous..

Some classicly silly lines with overracting "he is going out there to risk his life" - a very serious line, if handled correctly for dramatic effect, but so badly delivered by Minnie Driver it was almost comical!

Will be watching, oh yes, but with my brain switched off!

Cracking stuff... bring it on.

ChickensHaveNoEyebrows · 04/08/2010 17:31

I am intrigued. Cracking cast, I just hope it doesn't go down the cliche route.

It felt like underwater Blakes 7 to me (but I loved Blakes 7!)

But it seemed psychologically very improbable. Would the only surviving parent go back to the dangerous situation that killed his wife, potentially leaving his child an orphan? Would the powers that be allow him to;
surely there would be a battery of psychological tests for anyone going into that situation, and he didn't really seem to be holding it together that well.

Just nit-picking, I'll still watch it next week

amigababy · 10/08/2010 22:13

Oh help- what can I say?

OrmRenewed · 11/08/2010 10:47

I missed the first one so have to watch it on I-Player (ahem... in work). V good. Watched it again last night. DC watched it too....had cushion to cover DS#2's face when he got scared Grin

anonacfr · 11/08/2010 16:47

Watched the first ep on IPlayer and loved it (despite my aversion for Minnie Driver which wasn't helped by the fact that she is the worst captain ever. She gives Clem his wife's death recording in the middle of a crucial dive, she switches off Kovac's wife because she wants him for herself? Hmm).

Is it wrong that I find Tobias Menzies very sexy? I can totally see why Kristin Scott Thomas went for him. He has a lovely voice)

whoopstheregoesmymerkin · 11/08/2010 17:06

I am glad Minnie found an anorak for last night's ep. The sight of her prancing around in a faux fur fashion gillet at 10,000 leagues under the sea was starting to annoy me

anonacfr · 11/08/2010 17:17

I know!!!! It was gorgeous though. But not exactly submarine-friendly.

Quite liked the creepy American UN guy. He's so shady he might as well be wearing a 'baddie' T shirt.

ItalyLovingMummy · 11/08/2010 19:27

I have recorded the first two episodes and planning to watch over the weekend with DH. From your comments it sounds like its so bad its good, if you know what I mean, so looking forward to it. I used to love Goran in ER!

anonacfr · 11/08/2010 21:17

It's great in a disaster movie type of way. The cast is actually very impressive- Sinead Cusack, Orla Brady, Minnie Driver, James Nesbitt, Goran Visjnic and the delightful Tobias....

Off to watch ep n. 2 right now!

domeafavour · 11/08/2010 21:47

it's all very dramatic, very tense
great cast
but very disappointed with Minnie and Goran's acting. He is fantastic in ER

superoz · 12/08/2010 00:38

Still intrigued even though it has the feel of a typical BBC drama, some of the lines are a bit dodgy e.g:
'Do you speak Russian?'
(Sarcastically and with bad Russian accent) 'No I just have this zany accent for the fun of it'

LOL

anonacfr · 12/08/2010 09:01

I don't get that. The actress who plays her has a Russian name, I assumed at first she was Russian?
Have watched the first half of the 2nd episode- it's nice to see Minnie pulled out her trendy waistcoat again to go off exploring an abandoned sub.

amigababy · 12/08/2010 11:12

What I don't get (technical question) is, if the abandoned sub is underwater, and it hauled their little sub up into it into a sort of docking area, why doesn't the sea water flood into the Russian sub? Was there some kind of air lock we didn't see, cos it seemed to me that they just got dragged straight up inside it

(and if she's the captain why doesn't she know what languages her crew speak?)

bishboschone · 14/08/2010 20:50

its to do with the pressure amiga...the air is heavier than the water at that depth or something like that. DH was explaining but I don't listen.
