We like Dollhouse and Flashforward - what else should we watch?

That's it really.

Assuming we are getting DVD boxsets or similar, so it doesn't have to be on TV right now.

All suggestions welcomed.

DP liked Battlestar Galactica - I haven't seen it. I like Glee, but DP won't go in for things where people sing. We've seen Firefly already so the Joss Whedon link is no use.

I second quite a lot of what's above -

Fringe
Caprica
Deadwood
Warehouse 13
Definitely Trueblood
Supernatural - bear through the episodic 1st season, it gets really 'plotty' from S2 onwards
and Carnivale - brilliant!

sayithowitis · 31/07/2010 13:02

Lie To Me
Fringe
7 Days
Journeyman
Modern Family
Lost

Medium

phoneyjoanie · 31/07/2010 21:14

How could I forget Modern Family!
Absolutely hilarious but weird and random time slots with no episode continuity.

phoneyjoanie · 31/07/2010 21:15

Anyone used to watch Jericho?

Everything I like seems to get dropped mid series.

UnquietDad · 31/07/2010 21:18

Medium (Virgin 1 and living) is surprisingly good.

Which channel is The 4400 on at the moment? I started watching that on Sky years ago and forgot to keep up with it.

Warehouse 13? That should appeal to your tastes. It was on Virgin 1 a while back - will come back round, I'm sure.

UnquietDad · 31/07/2010 21:19

phoney, I watched Jericho - 1st series at least. Lost it after that though.

Farscape is well worth checking out - it's like a demented StarTrek/ Blake's Seven/ Doctor Who/ Babylon 5 melange with added romance and kink, made by Aussies. It is fabulous.

AnyFuleKno · 31/07/2010 21:31

oh my god yes, modern family is brill

is carnivale really good? I caught a random episode on late night tv once but didn't really get it

Oh yes modern family! Love it!

unquietdad we're watching the 4400 on DVD from lovefilm. We go into it very quick- a lot like V.

BrigitBigKnickers · 02/08/2010 10:47

House- totally addictive- DH and I have watched the first 5 seasons on DVD over the last 5 months.

Love Hugh Laurie

We have also watched the first series of Shameless recently- really good and funny too.

ProfessorLaytonIsMyLoveSlave · 02/08/2010 10:59

Season 6 of House starts well and finishes well but has a bit of a flat patch in the middle -- I think they'd done stuff that they needed to do with the characters at the end of Season 5 and start of Season 6, knew where they wanted them at the end of Season 6, but couldn't quite work out what to do with them in between. Looking forward to Season 7, though!

BrigitBigKnickers · 02/08/2010 11:06

I haven't seen season 6 yet although have heard it has its ups and downs.Missed it on Sky but have just seen it's being repeated on Hallmark starting at 8 this evening!

Really pleased as I am having withdrawal symptoms and the DVD doesn't come out till October.

Season 7 starts mid september I believe.

TrillianAstra · 02/08/2010 11:40

Ah yes, we already watch House, House is fantastic

If you like House you might like Boston Legal -- a bit patchy in the first half of the first season but settles down once Candice Bergen turns up.

BrigitBigKnickers · 02/08/2010 18:53

Agree- Boston Legal is fab.

How about Ally Macbeal- similar sort of show and quite funny- we watched them all on DVD a few years ago.

TrillianAstra · 02/08/2010 19:14

Hahahahaha, no way to Ally McBeal! I loved it back in 1998 but I was young and foolish and DP would hate her and want her to die. I think I might hate her and want her to die.

Sorry

Did you see The Lost Room? It's only a mini-seri (three episodes, I think) but was fabulous.

Saladbomb · 08/08/2010 21:25

Not quite in the same vein as those you mention but The Wire and Breaking Bad are both VERY good series. They are not scifi but the characters and plot lines will have you snagged from 10 mins in. I really didn't think I was going to like The Wire as I am much more into my sci fi stuff (Love BG, Caprica and was gutted Firefly only got one season) but DH wanted to watch it and it is really excellent. Both are fairly violent tho but not gratuitously so and only to accentuate the plot all though EP1 of Breaking Bad is pretty Shock

Both Lie To me and 4400 are news to me and sounds good so will check those out for sure.
