This programme is vile.

Have just watched a woman having an extended panic attack about being dropped from a great height, and had this portrayed as entertainment. Is it like this every week?

Or should I ration my outrage for later in the series when they will be demonstrating the fun side of waterboarding?

FFS.

Haven't seen it before but it seems a bit like a quiz show version of Total Wipeout but without the fun .

ThatDamnDog · 17/07/2010 19:48

I don't think people voluntarily going on a TV gameshow can really be considered in the same context as waterboarding.

There are plenty worse things on TV IMO (and yes, I have seen the programme).

I'm sure it was explained to her when she applied.

I understnad about consent - but there is something very uncomfortable indeed about watching someone having a panic attack for our entertainment. This woman was hyperventilating and clearly terrified. Watching it, I felt complicit in her genuine distress.

It should not have been shown imo.

me and the kids have watched it the last few weeks, and thought it was quite good! they have every right to refuse to do these things!

I felt uncomfortable about this as well. I don't mind when people are screaming and laughing at the same time, and you can tell they're terrified in a fun way. This woman was genuinely panicking though, and I can totally understand how she felt. I thought it was awfully cruel, especially Steve Jones' obvious amusement.

Does nobody on the production team remember The Late Late Breakfast Show ??

SO glad that it wasn't just me, TTT. I hope that UnquietDad's comment doesn't turn out to be prescient...
