What can I do with my 14 yo DD

I really need help! DD doesn't have many friends and is spending alot of her holidays in front of the TV. I just don't know what to do with her

Is it making her miserable...fourteen is a bit of a crossover between liking younger activities and being obsessed with teenage stuff like boys, cigarettes etc..? Her potential mates might just be doing things she feels uncomfortable with...

Yes I think that's a really good point. She's quite naïve and does get scared easily

Does she like arty things? With my mum, I would have liked learning stain glass, going to a cafe where you get to paint a mug and keep it afterwards, that kind of thing, when I was that age. Going to the cinema with her? Does she rollerskate?

She's not too confident on skates, but we do go to the cinema. The arty thing sounds good

Yeah, but there are always some very fanciable boys at the skating session...

Oh god, can you tell I took my 5yo ds to the local high school skating session last week? Watching the teenage-flirtation shenanigans is half the sport....

Does she like music? Lots of free or cheap open-air concerts and little plays during the summer. You could phone up somewhere like Connexions and ask what events are on locally for teens. Might be something she'd like to go to.

Connexions is... a government sponsored group of centres, like an employment agency/career advice place for teenagers (target age=13-19). They run cafes, computer learning courses, drop-in career and other counselling.

Don't know, maybe it is an age thing??? Not so sure wbout putting them in a room together .... Mind you, knowing my DD, they probably wouldn't even speak, let alone anything else
