DD is 13.
She has OCD but is managing it well, but last night we had total meltdown as she was convinced ds hadn't washed his hands after going to toilet. (this is about 9.15- they had just gone to bed)
Cue shouting at him, threatening to thump him, throwing the cat out of her room.....I was on MN upstairs at the time, and went down to find her about to tear some homework up. I suggested she didn't, told her to be quiet and stop behaving like a 2 year old- she was not ds's mother, I was, and I would be the parent ( as the therapist as told me to do)
As I turned to leave the room she threw a wicker basket full of bobbles/clips at me- I have to say I was like a whippet to get to her, held her wrists and told her firmly never to do that again.
I then left her and shut the door.
Dh was out, but she got her phone and texted him that I had assaulted her!
Anyway, she slunk in my room this morning, got in bed with me and asked for a hug, because she felt so bad. She'd wanted to come and say sorry last night, but thought I'd tell her to get lost.
So all friends now- we had a talk about getting angry- best thing to do is punch her pillow.
God it's hard work being a parent isn't it?
