teens activity holidays

Has anyone let their teenager go away on their own on one of these activity holidays. We can't go away this summer holiday and my 15 daughter is a little down and lacking a self esteem. I wondered if a holiday like this would do her good. PEOPLE HER OWN AGE AND A BREAK AWAY FROM PARENTS AND PRESSURES OF SCHOOL.

Mine has been to an annual summer youth camp, and absolutely loved every minute. She is gutted that it is not running this year. First time she went, didn't know a sole - came back with loads of new friends to MSN with, & meet up with next time (It will be back next yr).

Our was not PGL etc (too expensive), but cheap canvas, church run week and (even though she doesn't like church) she is gutted cannot go this yr.
