OMG DD1 has Mumps

DD1(18) came home from university yesterday and told me that one of her friends had had to go home early because he had developed Mumps even though he had had all his vaccinations. So guess what this morning DD1 had come down with the tell tale Hamster Cheeks. She has had all her vaccinations as well . We are already dealing with DD2's Glandular fever I think this is going to tip me over the edge.

I know how you feel.
Ds has gone down with German measles even though he's had all the jabs too. A weeks cabin fever awaits us.

DS went to a university nursery and caught it too though it was mild because he'd had his jabs.

She doesn't seem to be that unwell, she just has a sore face and swallowing hurts so maybe the jabs have reduced the severity. I was just so surprised as I haven't seen any Mumps since 1975 when me and my brother had it!

I had mumps as a child. My siblings all had it too. It wasn't severe, we were nothing worse than uncomfortable. We hadn't had any jabs.
Whilst it can have serious side effects it is usually a very mild illness.

I had mumps too once when we were on holiday in the Lake District I did feel poorly for a while, but it wasn't too bad
