fed up with the "omg a teen will stab me dramatics"
on monday dd had to have an operation(sn)
her 17yr old brother came to visit her with his friend(a girl) they stayed an hour and made her day.
he has another friend, who if you saw in the street would look scarey(mohican and all in black) yet whenever he comes to the house he comes in to show dd his hair, even though he knows she will lol

Another secondary teacher here (well SAHM at the mo) and i think teenages get such a bad press.

I loved my job and it was down to the kids. When i look back with the rose tinted specs on its the kids that made the job worthwhile, and the management and paperwork that ruined it! The majority were fabulous, honest and a great laugh. When i was pregnant all the kids looked out for me which was really sweet...telling me to sit down, don't carry that, let us do it etc...even the 'troublemakers' had a good side to them. In a school of nearly 2000 there were very few real baddies.

Now the thought of teaching primary and 30 4 year olds....shudder

my 15 year old son is lovely, he is funny and caring.

Ive been incredibly ill with pregnancy sickness and when he gets in from school, he fusses over me making sure I have plenty to drink etc.
hes great fun to be around because he has such a sharp sense of humour. DH and I love being in his company...of course hes only human and does have his off days

I made the flippant comment about teens and stabbing and |I'm sorry about it.

I work with teens and I do love them. They are quite fair a lot of the tiem and would often stick up for me if I was down.

My 17 yr old brother is lovely, and so are all his friends.

He spends hours with my DS, helping him and being patient and kind and sensitive.

I want to hug him now.

Was on the tube yesterday with a couple of teen boys on one side of me and an older lady who was looking slightly nonplussed by the attentions of a man sitting next to her - he only spoke Spanish (but didn't look like a tourist). The boys started to talk to her to tell her that they though he was saying she reminded him of his mother - I was then able to translate the next bit which was that he was saying that she was pretty. By the time I got off the tube they were all having a good old chat!

Great thread.
DD's both great fun, tease me rotten and best of all we are now all the same shoe size :-)

Not read it all, but what a lovely thread. So good to see such a lot of posts in response to something positive.

I have 2 teens, 15 and 17, and they are both brilliant lads. No.1 son is out of town with air cadets road marching today, whilst no.2 is watching his friend play football.

Looking forward to them both coming home and spending the evening with them. They will both get a hug, as they do every day, and whilst I only said to DH about an hour ago I'm pleased they're both spending time with friends, I'm also looking forward to going to the theatre with them both in a few days to see a rock-opera type thing.

Aww this is a lovely thread.

I'm 20 now, and I know I gave my mum a few grey hairs, mostly over the state of my room, but now, over the last year or so, we've gotten so close, and it's lovely.

Me, my mum and my gran all pitched in and made a trial attempt at a birthday cake for my 21st next month, and it was so much fun!

Me and mum go shopping, we've been to London, Manchester and Blackpool together, we go out taking pictures, we just do things we enjoy and I love being with her. She came to a 1 day music festival in our city with me and 5 of my mates and it was one of the best things ever, to see my mum next to me, dancing away, and telling people to watch it when they nearly fell on my friend who is in a wheelchair. I love my mum so much :)

Today I found a letter from my secondary school form teacher. I was in his form for 5 years and he was brilliant, helped me through lots of bullying etc. I'm writing him an email now, to catch up, and show him that the girl he knew has turned into a successful young woman :)

Thank you everyone, for showing me that not ALL people dislike teenagers!

Dh and I hace just had a great afternoon and evening with DD3 18. She came with us to my Dad's ( her Grandad's) 89th birthday meal. She usually goes to a Youth thetre group on Sunday afternoon bt she gave that up to come with us. I would just like to add my 19 year old nice and 16 and 13 year old nephews were also at the meal all making sure Grandad had a good time.
We had the meal in Burnham on sea and we stayed for the firework display which she really enjoyed she also chatted to us a lot.
