Mixed gender sleepovers

I am new to mumsnet. I have this conundrum re my 13yr old girl wanting to got o a sleepover at her friend's house (boy) with 2 of her girlfriends and 2 other boys. I do not know the family well and have only spoken to mum once! I know they are all mates and I do not suspect anything untoward as she tells me it is 'yuck' but am concerned where it all ends up eventually!

Well, I can only speak for my 14YO DSD, and NO WAY would she be allowed to go to a mixed sleepover. And NO WAY would she be allowed to have one here.

But, as I say, that's my situation and she is 14 (nearly 15) going on 21!!!

The thing is that she may think it's yuck, but the boys may have a different view!

DS has only been to one mixed sleepover, the kids all hung out together in the TV room till about midnight then were separated into different bedrooms. Seemed to work ok.

My 15yo charge goes to mixed sleepovers. They are threatened with death and no more sleepovers if anything dodgy happens. They so the same as mumblechums DS. Seperate rooms for sleeping.

I have a great level of trust with my 16yos, they are twins boy and girl and have a mixed group of friends and I have allowed them to have and go to mixed sleepovers for about 2 years and nothing untoward has happened so far. I think its all about talking to your children in an open manner; when they see you are open, they will open up aswell. Also, its about habing a good relaationship with your childrens friends parents, once you are all happy, your kids will be happy.

my 16 yr old DD has been to lots of mixed sleepovers, we had nine of them in our front room on Monday night :) They just have a laugh. Obviously you have to know your own child well and to trust them.
