Well, my oldest son is now almost 13, well, in a few weeks he will be 13...

in this past year he really has started finding his own style.....this means that his hair is slightly longer, and kinda styled fringe , and he started using black eyeliner and nail varnish, he likes his black skinny Jeans best, with lots of wrist bands and belts and has a trilby hat...
he looks utterly gorgous and it all suits him so much, so, I am obviously happy for him to wear whatever he likes and I just love he feels able to express himself by what he is wearing, I love that he doesn't feel he needs to "fit" in as such....I love his confidence,....you get my drift....!

Only thing that annoys me is that some people around us have made comments, i.e. do you think he is gay, blablabla....and tbh, I couldn't care less if he was....I mean....that is up to him, surely...I want hium to be happy and lead a fulfilled life, and that is it....(obviously I hope he won't get into drugs and crime....but that is a different issue)...

So...how do others feeling towards their Teenagers styles.....are you bothered about it, etc....

(Must say, I used to be a bit of a goth and stuff, so, possibly the reason why I think it is all quite within norm, lol)

My son is 12 so still pretty young, but he's turning into a bit of a dude with long hair, Converses etc - all very casual and laid back. I would be pretty upset if he started down the ned look line, with spiky highlights, white slip on trainers and sports gear

I was a bit of a goth (more emo, but they didn't exist in the 80s!), so am secretly hoping all the DCs are more alternative than mainstream iykwim. Mainstream is v dull at the moment - they all look the bloody same.

I think they look lovely like that - far better than bloomin' trackies, trainers, caps etc.

My daughter is 14 and looks absolutely gorgeous - she is into making her own skirts and wears them with footless tights, band T-shirts, etc - looks gorgeous.

wow fir lady he sounds great - so far my teens have been a real disappointment to me style wise

no spark at all - at their age i made a load of my stuff and had very very short hair

my teens are dull -

luckily got 3 more coming through so hope yet!

lol paula....he is a creative type, maybe that is why....

but am glad I am not the only one appreciating it ...

I think Teens get such a tough deal nowadays....and I think often they are hampered....

it always makes me smile when I see Teens being very extreme stylewise, because of course my generation (ours, I guess) had been there, done it and we know that really whatever they are wearing they probably are just as normal as they could be....
must be frustrating for this generation of youngsters that they can't shock as much as previous generations, lol....

Do any of your boys wear their trousers at the bottom of their bums, showing their designer pants? anytime I see that, I want to go up to the boy and yank the back of his trousers up!

FairLadyRantALot · 24/05/2009 09:37

lol...thankfully not....
