I've just been listening to some music that my ds (13 1/2) downloaded - lots of hiphop, rap etc- and the lyrics are foul/extremely graphic. Seems to be all about 'pimps and whores', violence and money. Artists he esp likes are Kanye West, T Pain, Eminem, if that means anything to anyone!!

In one way, he is being sensible and listens with headphones (has 11 and 7 yr old siblings) and wasn't evasive when I asked what he was listening to but I was still a little

15-yr-old here - indie, mostly - Coldplay, Travis etc plus random other things like Yellow Submarine (WTF? )

13 and 15yr old DS's - Kings of Leon, Nickelback, MCR, Greenday. 15yr old has quite wide tastes actually - will listen to most rock eg Rainbow, Bon Jovi, Queen, Dragonforce, Iron Maiden, along with more modern stuff. Luckily I LOVE loud rock music myself, so find myself headbanging singing along before asking them to turn it down, lol

Linkin Park, Limp Bizkit, The Script - some of which is quite good. Lots of random thrash.

DS is 13 and addicted to radio 1. He likes "indie" apparently, and main groups are Pigeon Detectives, killers etc.

DD is 18 and loves Musicals, Disney music etc etc She revises to you tube clips of any west end show she can find...
