my dd's friends think I am a screaming harpy

probably because I am

mrsmaidamess · 04/02/2009 22:11

Yes my dd's friends think I am mad and cool in equal measure. I am cool because I can do the Jay Z rap at the start of that Beyonce song (whilst dancing in the kitchen). That in itself makes me a bit mad.

LadyGlencoraPalliser · 04/02/2009 22:13

My almost-teen DD's friends think I am a snack vending machine.

They adore me!

janeite · 04/02/2009 22:28

My friend's 16 year old son thinks I'm pretty cool because I talk music with him. DD's friends think I am a "good giftwrapper and good fondue maker but a bit weird" she tells me!

mrsmaidamess · 04/02/2009 22:29

I think my dd is secretly proud of my rapping skills too.

girlandboy · 04/02/2009 22:31

One of dd's friends told her that she thought "your mum is quite pretty"

I took this as a great compliment because I am very plain.

BCNS · 04/02/2009 22:32

I was told I'm cool

it's the being young, able to play guitar and being an artist that does it lol

piscesmoon · 04/02/2009 22:33

They think I'm eccentric-I'm quite happy with that!

Swedes · 04/02/2009 22:38

I've never asked. They are in bed now but I'll ask them in the morning.

twoluvlykids · 04/02/2009 22:39

they're mostly scared of me (I work at their school but with the special kids) but they're all happy to pile round here, eat food, make a mess and noise and they clear off again before I start getting stroppy.

so I don't know. I do have a bit of an "open door" policy, and I told one of DS's friends I was getting him his own key...

AnyFuckerForAShiteSoppyCard · 04/02/2009 22:47

all you ladeez who think you are down with the kids are deluded !!

mwah-ha-ha-haaaaa

Hassled · 04/02/2009 22:49

Have asked DD what her friends think of me and apparently they don't talk about me and don't actually care. That's me told, then.

(they do like my cake)

Swedes · 04/02/2009 22:54

Hassled That's hilarious.

AnyFuckerForAShiteSoppyCard · 04/02/2009 22:58

hassled, that is more realistic lol

my dd and her friends just think of me as part of the furniture who occasionally doles out some grub and nags about homework/chores

however, I know they covet my Diesel jeans but they are miiiiine alllll miiiiiiiine

notsoclever · 04/02/2009 23:04

Apparently they think I am a cow - a strict cow. They are afraid of doing anything wrong in my house. In my house they even eat vegetables and other thing that they hate.

And I thought I was cool, funny, bohemian...

desertmum · 05/02/2009 10:13

They think I'm scarey - which is just fine with me. However, none of them have ever seen me being REALLY scarey - but they are coming close this week. . . . On the bright side they also think I don't look 50.

TheThoughtPolice · 05/02/2009 10:20

I'm a MILF

2 DSs 15 & 16.5

Pimmpom · 05/02/2009 15:10

Blimey, don't think I want to know....

Tortington · 05/02/2009 15:23

ds1's friends think i am a nag
"you better not be stoned in my back garden"
"when are you getting a job"
"i thought you were joining the army!"
"you'll have to wait 10 mins, he has chores " (he's 19!)

ds2's(15) friends think i am cool becuase i have a drumkit and am not phased by talk of sex
dd's friends are mixed some think i am ok - again the sex and the openess of the conversation, some think i am a nag bag

MaplePecanPlait · 05/02/2009 15:31

got a feeling I am pretty scary too.

Try very hard to be fun and easy going as I know I will never ever be cool. Never was cool when I was a teenager.

I told DD1's friend off this week for lying to DD1 and over stepped the mark for interfering. Remarkably disinterested now in small details of friends lives (terrified of interfering again )

pagwatch · 05/02/2009 15:33

MY ds1's male friends think I'm cool and funny. His female friends are terrified of me - which actually I find faintly upsetting. But I try not to be pathetic about it.
DDs friends all think I am mad and funny. But I give them stuff to make them like me.

ra29 · 05/02/2009 15:43

Just asked nearly (ish) teen ds and got a shrug and a noise that i think means 'I don't know'...
He looked horrified by the idea of me doing any kind of rapping when I suggested that might make his freinds think I'm cool!
