Are the Final Destination films suitable for a 13 year old?

I have only watched the first one and found it so gross/scary I don't want to watch the others. DD has just said she watched 2 and 3 at a sleepover. I am but not sure if I am over reacting just because I don't like the films.

I want some opinions before DD tells DH and he (maybe) hits the roof. He has watched the films!

Nooooo!
I found them frightening for an adult!

aGalChangedHerName · 25/01/2009 17:14

God they are horrific. Ds1 who is 17 has seen them but i can't watch them.

southeastastra · 25/01/2009 17:15

aGalChangedHerName · 25/01/2009 17:19

MrsWeasley · 25/01/2009 17:22

no i'm just probably hardened

Uriel · 25/01/2009 17:25

Not frightening, but not suitable for a 13 year old imo.

What are they rated?

MrsWeasley · 25/01/2009 17:32

I think they are rated as 15!

We watched horror films when we were 13 at parties etc...evil dead, freddy, halloween etc etc. I suppose the gore might have moved on a bit since those days.

muggglewump · 25/01/2009 17:37

It depends on the 13yr old.
I watched the same films as bananapaddlepop younger than that (I've an older brother) and by 13 wouldn't have been scared of Final Destination.

MrsWeasley · 25/01/2009 17:55

my 13 yo isnt sensitive or shocked by them at all! So I should just shrug it off? or chill as DD says

They're not scary but I remember them being very gorey. I watched stuff like that at 13 (nightmare on elm street, childs play etc)

AnyFucker · 26/01/2009 12:30

my dd13 loves them all and has watched them several times over

although they are gory, there is no actual violence glorified between people and no sex/swearing so I think if a teenager is not too squeamish they are ok

HecateQueenOfGhosts · 26/01/2009 12:34

No! They are terrible! People dying in hideous ways. I think there's no reason for children to see such images and wonder what they do to a young mind!!!

AnyFucker · 26/01/2009 18:10

such images put my dd off going on fairground rides, and that's all right by me !

Tortington · 26/01/2009 18:12

no - and i am quite liberal.

the whole final destination series is really a montage about different ways people can die in the most horrific terrifying ways possible

there is little plotline

pagwatch · 26/01/2009 18:14

No. Horrible ideas

violence porn

roofer · 26/01/2009 20:07

if a tenager wannts 2 watch it let em.
they will be so scared they will p*ss there self

CherryChoc · 27/01/2009 18:31

2 and 3 are both 18s but 1 is a 15.

I have watched them all because I think the storyline and how the events are connected are clever but I wouldn't watch them again, they make me imagine horrible death scenarios all the time.
