Who the cool rock bands are now? My nephew likes My Chemical Romance, AC/Dc etc and trying to think of a 10th birthday pressie for him.

Speaking as a teenager myself I would descibe the feeling as an indie band (different from rock) Hows about fightstar? Or Panic at the disco?

My dd likes the hoosiers and scouting for girls. And another one beginning with E that I can't remember.

Bring me the horizon, Green Day, Blink 182, Bullet for my Valentine.

The feeling and scouting for girls are generally seen as a bit crap by older teenagers. Not sure about a ten year old though. All comes down to personal taste in the end. Could you take him somewhere and let him choose a cd or other music related item. It would probably feel like quite a grown up thing for him to do.

DS 13 just bought the new Oasis CD yesterday with his own money. He thinks its fab (thats my word as it obv not cool).

Agree - voucher much safer. ITunes vouchers are great - you can just download what you want.

Less than Jake - I love their song 'Overrated'. Fall Out Boy, Gorillaz, Killswitch Engage, Linkin Park, Bullet for my Valentine, Slipknot - all of these I've just found in a quick trawl through what's on our windows media player playlist - that's what the boys have put on.

Ds3 is 11, and his current favourites are Slipknot.

finally remembered and was told it's not about bands it's about songs. Sorry not much help - except to support voucher.

Will prob go for a voucher then, was going to take him to a gig, but everywhere is 14+ even Brixton Academy! and our local Carling Academy.

I'm sure they don't want anyone under 14 listening to anything other than mainstream pop.

HE saw 30 STM on MTV the other day and has been asking me to copy my cds for him so will prob get a copy of that too. Not a lot of bad language in that either.
