Teen wanting to not be at home much, is it me?

or is this normal teenage behaviour?

So far both of my teen girls were very homely until they hit 16, then they never want to be here.

I am now on the second one starting to take it personally!

They come home at the time told to, but just feel they are pushing things.

Should I just chill, now, and leave her to it?

She is safe and around friends houses, so not walking the streets, too much!

They are around if they want to borrow some money though....

How can I turn it around then. She is happy, but I feel like she dont want to be here anymore. Its causing me to argue with alot.

It's normal at 16. Just be thankful that she stayed home before this better than roaming the streets at 13. I wonder if this will happen to us. DD 14 stays home most of the time.

Try and arrange shopping trips/lunch out together occassionally and if she agrees then don't take it personally.

Its normal my DS1 14 is out round friends or playing football, but like forevercleaning says they are around when they want money

i think we are programmed to worry. i worried that my son was in far too much and told him to get out and see his mates!

I shouldnt really grumble, as she works full time. I just seem to have lost my pull on her. I hate this transitional stage, between being an adult, and still being a child. I am just unsure of my role with her right now.

Its hard to just let them get on with it, as I still want to guide her, and stop her making big mistakes.

I think its mother nature though, making it easier for when they do leave home.

its the hardest thing watchng your child make the same mistakes you did.

then you realise you have turned into a stereotype mum of teen and its awful !

I am feeling the same, i find it quite sad. My youngest is 14 and she has a hobby which takes her out most evenings during the week, although it is me that runs her there and back. But any other free time she has she just makes plans with one particular friend or i have to run her shopping/cinema or somewhere..... I do suggest we go here or there but she always seems to have something else to do It is not a nice time, i keep hoping that as she gets older she will 'come back' abit.
