I’ve got a 11yo who’s just joined yr7 he’s already landed himself 4 de-merits & 2 detentions! Only positive is that he’s got 9 merits (not much when compared to de-merits)
im actually sick of his behaviour! All through yr5 & 6 he was a pain in the arse and I was getting calls home. No amount of taking away screen time, (now phone), tablet, socialising is working.
where do I go? I’ve actually had enough!

Well I’d start with an educational psychiatric appointment.
Children don’t want to be in trouble.
There will be some neurodiversity or some trauma that’s best to be explored now.

What is he getting them for?

I’d make an appointment with the school initially.

Does he do any sports he can channel his energy into?

What does he do, and why? Is he trying to fit in? Want to be the class clown? Is he insecure about something? Is he high IQ and bored?

Talk to his form teacher. Try to find out what's behind it. What does your ds say?

Gosh. Would you not try talking to him first?

The OP says she’s sick of his behavior, finds him a pain in the arse. Sounds a bit past the “talking” phase.
IMHO talking usually ends up a one way lecture. Why drag this out longer than necessary. A waste of precious time go straight to professional help.

Have you asked him what the detentions are for? Is he in a new school with new rules?

We have a teenager that gets detentions for really strange reasons - being in the wrong corridor at certain times of day, having the wrong make of trousers/clothes, high-fiving someone (no contact school), being two minutes late for a lesson because he needed a wee. He also did many other stupid things (like throwing a pen across the room for ‘laughs’) so some demerits are a good thing.

Some boys also just like playing up a little at the start of school to get attention. Hopefully it calms down a bit when he gets settled within a social group.
