I need some help. my kid wants an education that I cannot afford. what do i do?

As in private school?

I mean if you don’t have the money it’s a no really isn’t it? Unless they are eligible for a bursary?

You embezzle your employer to pay for it or rob a bank. Other options include selling an organ, sex work, surrogacy or stealing from family.

Honestly, who puts posts up like this in the early hours with zero context and expects helpful replies.

Many parents on here just havnt got the word no in their vocabulary.

Im sure people can and do say it, but for many people their kids happiness and dreams are also important, and it's heartbreaking to see that you cant give them the future they would love. I thought this was common to most parents, but clearly not!

Do your kids understand the value of money? Or understand your financial situation? Maybe it’s time to explain about your finances, where the money goes and how much you have to live on. If you’re talking private school, that’s in the region of 20k plus a year now per child.

I'm 61. When I was 11 ish all my friends had their own horses. They were farmer's children. My parents weren't and wouldn't buy me one. Apparently our medium sized suburban garden wasn't big enough for one and they didn't fancy throwing thousands into a creature they didn't want or understand. I thought I was really hard done by ( absolute twat). You can't afford it and you are the parent so you say no and move on.

Do you mean private school or do you mean uni?

If it’s university, tell them to check out courses sponsored by the Army etc.
It means bonded labour for 5+ years but at least they would be an engineer or whatever.
