My 13yo has spots on his face. Tried few cleansers, but no luck.
What helped your teen?

when the spots started he used Salicylic Acid

La Roche-Posay Effaclar Micro-Peeling Purifying Gel Wash
La Roche-Posay Effaclar Duo

When he used it consistently every morning it helped for a while. Then when they got worse again, added benzoyl peroxide in evenings (this will also bleach towels/bedding) and it really helped. Consistency is important.

Acnecide Face 5%

Eventually when it got worse went to GP and he got an oral anti biotic and DUAC (benzoyl peroxide with topical antibiotic) and that worked wonders for a while. But Dr then changed from DUAC to Epiduo and his skin suddenly erupted and switching back to DUAC did nothing. It was awful all over face, neck, torso, and he was put on (long) waiting list for dermatology.

We went private through my work heath cover and paid for roaccutane prescriptions which cleared it up.

Acnecide for specific flare ups.
Roaccutane for a long term fix.
