Ideas for 18th birthday gift

DD is 18 in a month. We want to buy her a significant gift, but we don’t go crazy on gifts so probably ~£300 or so.

She had wanted a keyboard to take to uni as she plays piano a lot at home. But has decided to wait and see how easy it is to use uni music rooms. So that idea has been retired, just recently.

She also enjoys gaming and art (she paints a lot).

Any bright ideas for gifts? I feel like I don’t have long to come up with a good idea and get it sorted! Would consider experience gifts as well as tangible things.

DD is 18 next week. I bought her an Apple watch. It was £280 so within budget.

Thanks, I’ll ask her if that would be of interest. She does have a Garmin that she likes though. I wonder if she’d like a more dressy watch as an alternative to the Garmin. Hm, got me thinking!

A watch or piece of jewellery is a keeper

I would definitely ask her if there's something she really wants.
My daughter is about to turn 18 and she would have zero interest in a watch or (proper) jewellery.
She actually wants so little we've agreed we will put some money aside until she actually does want something special.
Don't spend £300 on a "I hope she likes it" gift.
🙂

No don’t worry, we won’t be buying without consulting her. The issue we have is she isn’t coming up with ideas to replace the keyboard idea! She’s under pressure with exams coming up so doesn’t have much headspace.

Personally then I would wait to get her a "big" present.
Tell her this in advance so she's not surprised and get a bunch of favourite treats.
That's essentially what we are doing for our about to be 18 year old.

Not really a gift idea but if you want to do something sentimental you can make a birthday slideshow with her photos since childhood, teenage years, photos of her with friends, maybe even some videos she posted, etc. Here are some ideas for a birthday video as well, but just combining all you have by now and adding a song she likes would be very cute. We did it for my niece 21st birthday and she loved it so much.

Thanks, this is a lovely idea.
