Spots at 9 years old!

I'm posting in Teenagers even though my DD1 is only 9. She has always been very forward in development - looks about 3 years older than her age and also acts it. There are a few signs she may be heading for an early puberty (poor thing!) and lately I've noticed she has spots on and around her nose. As she's a very sensitive soul, I'm concerned that this will knock her confidence. Does anyone have any tips for dealing with spots in a 9 year old? Thanks for any advice.

I don't know about 9, but dd is 13 and we had a long chat on cleanliness, and how to combat spots, ie drink lots of water and eat well. We also brought her a mild cleanser.
One thing you should watch out for is the sort of spots which are really bad acne, if she gets them, they are not spots but acne and the only way to treat them is going to the doctor for anti biotics. Oh and tell her not to swueeze them.
Toothpaste is good for drying them.

My DD (16) has bad acne on her back and shoulders we have antibiotics from the doctor, if you are concerned about the spots and the signs of puberty it might be worth getting her checked by your GP. 9 does seem very young

Evenstar, although 9 seems young, it is not uncommon in this day and age for 9 to be the start of puberty. The school dd went to (primary) had sanitary towel bins in the girls loos. They have been there (according to the secretary) for twenty years.

Thanks for all the advice. I'll keep an eye on the spots and may well take her to the doctor if things get worse. I know it's possible girls can have periods at 9 - although I wasn't early (I was 13) I remember a couple of girls starting at 9 when I was at school (won't say how long ago that was!) Just hope my DD isn't one of them.

My son was like this at the same age! he Gp said it was at the early end of normal and because he was under 12, could not have the antibiotics for acne as they affect the teeth. He is now 16 and still has outbreaks but keeping himself clean certainly helps.
