we have challenging situation with DS as a relationship broken and they some mistrust

however, now he’s saying that he would like some money and I wonder whether to offer him some things to do at home for money

given the mistrust i’d probably want to encourage him to look for a part time job.

Tell him to look for a job. McDonald's is a great employer at that age.
